1895 - The Berliner Gramophone Company was founded in Philadelphia, PA.


1918 - U.S. Corporal Alvin C. York almost single-handedly killed 25 German soldiers and captured 132 in the Argonne Forest in France. York had originally tried to avoid being drafted as a conscientious objector. After this event his was promoted to sergeant and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

"While it's not the first time we have observed the BLS manipulate data (the last time was in "This Is What Happens When The Bureau Of Labor Statistics Is Caught In A Lie"), never before had we actually caught the Bureau Of Labor Statistics openly fabricating data. 
Until now.

As reported earlier today, in one of the most closely watched statistics in today's payrolls report, the BLS reported that the annual increase in Average Weekly Earnings was a whopping 2.9%, above the 2.5% expected, and above the 2.5% reported last month. 
On the surface this was a great number, as the 2.9% annual increase - whether distorted by hurricanes or not - was the highest since the financial crisis.

However, a problem emerges when one looks just one month prior, at the revised August data.

...What the above shows is, in a word, impossible: one can not have the two subcomponents of a sum-total decline, while the total increases. The math does not work.

This, as Zatlin notes, undermines not only the labor inflation narrative, but it puts into question the rest of the overall labor data, and whether there are other politically-motivated, goalseeked  "spreadsheet" errors..."

Five Christopher Columbus statues have already been vandalized in New York City in recent weeks, according to Far Left Watch. 

In one case last month, vandals defaced a "larger-than-life" statue of Columbus in Central Park, leaving blood-red paint on his hands, and scrawled, "Hate will not be tolerated" and “#SomethingsComing” on its pedestal.
What is coming appears to be a coordinated campaign to destroy monuments all across the country on Columbus Day.
The NYC-based antifa group Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement (RAM) made the announcement on Thursday, September 21, calling on antifa groups nationwide to “decorate” their neighborhoods.
According to Far Left Watch, RAM is "an extremely militant group that advocates for the violent redistribution of property" and for "the abolition of gender..."

"A man visiting Yale University on a college tour fell off a "historic swing" in the courtyard of one of its dorms, Branford, and suffered a concussion. 
The college swiftly reminded people that you should swing safely.

Just kidding; that's not what the college did. 
As The Yale Daily News reported in a piece titled, "Historic Swing, Unconscious Man Removed from Courtyard," the offending recreational seat was whisked away for study. 
Meantime, Yale Visitor Center Director Nancy Franco sent a note to all the student tour guides:

"This week there was an unfortunate accident when a visitor fell off the swing in Branford," Franco wrote. "I realize that the swing has never been part of your tours, but it can happen in an instant and we ask that you steer people away from trying to climb on that or anything else."

I guess it should have been painfully obvious to the visitor that one should never swing on a swing. Duh! Now the tour guides will point that out. 
But not immediately, since the swing is currently missing in action:

In a college-wide email on Sunday, [Branford Head Enrique] De La Cruz sought to assuage students' fears, writing that the swing is undergoing a safety evaluation and will likely return to the courtyard soon.

"Many have asked about the swing — it is being evaluated for safety, and we expect it back soon," De La Cruz wrote..."
