Hollywood attacks NRA while using guns for movie, TV violence - Washington Times:
"“Criminologists across the political spectrum have known there’s a direct and strong correlation between young male violence and the lack of a presence of fathers,” he said. Why not make more stories revealing that hard truth?
“Movies that glorify violence and guns would be far less influential if we had far more boys growing up knowing their dads,” he said."

The Weaponization of the EPA Is Over: An Interview With Scott Pruitt
"Rob Bluey:
You gave a speech at CPAC last year where you were just at the beginning of your tenure at the Environmental Protection Agency, and you outlined some of the things that you wanted to do.
Here we are a year later, you’ve repealed, taken back, 22 regulations at a savings at $1 billion, a significant contribution to the U.S. economy, as President Donald Trump talked about in his speech. What does that mean?
Scott Pruitt:
Busy year.
And it was great to be at CPAC about two weeks after having been sworn in last year.
And I talked last year about the future ain’t what it used to be, that Yogi Berra quote that I cited about the change that was gonna take place at the agency and I think we’ve been about that change the last year.
Focusing on rule of law, restoring process and order, making sure that we engage in cooperative federalism as we engage in regulation.
But the key to me is that weaponization of the agency that took place in the Obama administration, where the agency was used to pick winners and losers.
Those days are over..."

The one commonality of these six indicators? They all happen slowly and incrementally, but are more evident with a long-term perspective.
Each family lifted out of poverty, each classroom that gets built, and each village gaining access to basic vaccinations may not seem significant on a scale of billions of people – but over decades, these gains add up to create a richer, more educated, and healthier world and a very powerful statistical story.
SIX GLOBAL TRENDS
Here are the six big picture trends pointed out by Roser, using data collected over hundreds of years:

FBI staffers knew warnings about Nikolas Cruz were related but closed the case, lawmakers learn | Fox News:
"The FBI this week detailed to Congress a series of mistakes and missed opportunities to intervene before a gunman killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida -- including a revelation that staffers knew two warnings about suspect Nikolas Cruz were related, but still closed the case.
FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich made the comments in a closed briefing Tuesday with members of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees.
In a summary released Wednesday to Fox News, Bowdich cited two tips that the FBI received about Cruz in September 2017 and January 2018 that were mishandled."

How We CAN End School Shootings for Good???? – Soldier of Fortune Magazine
"After the recent school shootings in Florida and immediate attacks on guns, AR-15s, and so-called “assault weapons,” I decided to research, without political agenda, to see if people like me have been wrong.
I asked myself, “What did we do differently that caused that jump?”
The answer was easily discovered: The Gun-Free School Zones Act (GFSZA) is an act of the U.S. Congress which was introduced in the U.S. Senate in October, 1990 by then-Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware and was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush..."

"After the recent school shootings in Florida and immediate attacks on guns, AR-15s, and so-called “assault weapons,” I decided to research, without political agenda, to see if people like me have been wrong.
- During the 18th century there was 1 incident of a school shooting.
- During the 19th century there were 28 shootings.
- In the 20th century there were 227 shootings.
- So far in the 21st century, including the February 14, 2018 shooting, there have been 207 shootings.
- Looking at the numbers in the primary article, I found that in the 1990 time frame of school shootings, the figure almost doubled, a drastic increase.
I asked myself, “What did we do differently that caused that jump?”

Hugo Chavez’s economic miracle - Salon.com-DAVID SIROTA-03.06.2013
"The Venezuelan leader was often marginalized as a radical.
But his brand of socialism achieved real economic gains.
For the last decade in American politics, Hugo Chavez became a potent political weapon - within a few years of his ascent, he was transformed from just a leader of a neighboring nation into a boogeyman synonymous with extremism.
...No, Chavez became the bugaboo of American politics because his full-throated advocacy of socialism and redistributionism at once represented a fundamental critique of neoliberal economics, and also delivered some indisputably positive results.
Indeed, as shown by some of the most significant indicators, Chavez racked up an economic record that a legacy-obsessed American president could only dream of achieving..."

The Media and Joe McCarthy | Trending:
"...If Evans and West are to be believed -- and their argument is certainly persuasive -- McCarthy has been unjustly smeared by the press and by antihistorical writing in general.
As Wes Vernon writes in Accuracy in Media, “The media’s role in tilting the scales against the most controversial United States senator in the 20th century began the very moment he burst on the national scene in February of 1950.”
It continues in one form or another to this day, often “mediated” through the anti-Trump mania that has consumed the Left and the FNM (Fake News Media).
Trump is now regarded by the anti-anti-communist syndicate as a kind of McCarthy redivivus -- all the more reason to explode the media fable.
But the belief in McCarthy’s treachery has penetrated everywhere..."

Evidence suggests a massive scandal is brewing at the FBI | New York Post:
"During the financial crisis, the federal government bailed out banks it declared “too big to fail.” Fearing their bankruptcy might trigger economic Armageddon, the feds propped them up with taxpayer cash.
Something similar is happening now at the FBI, with the Washington wagons circling the agency to protect it from charges of corruption.
This time, the appropriate tag line is “too big to believe.”
Yet each day brings credible reports suggesting there is a massive scandal involving the top ranks of America’s premier law enforcement agency.
The reports, which feature talk among agents of a “secret society” and suddenly missing text messages, point to the existence both of a cabal dedicated to defeating Donald Trump in 2016 and of a plan to let Hillary Clinton skate free in the classified email probe.
If either one is true — and I believe both probably are — it would mean FBI leaders betrayed the nation by abusing their powers in a bid to pick the president..."
