One-Way Street

By Tammy Derouin

As Americans we enjoy the wonderful blessings of freedom. We have the freedom to speak, think, believe and live as we choose as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others. As Americans we have the right to be individuals.

Image result for free clip art one way signSadly, we have entered a time in our history where individualism is under attack by the political Left. The Democratic Party tries to come across as the guardians of individualism. So why is it that they attack and belittle those who think for themselves or who see life differently? It turns out that it's a one-way street. The party which supposedly champions differences will declare war on you and will try to destroy you if you step outside of their political box of enslavement.

As I observe the behavior on the Left, one thing has become transparently clear. And to be clear, I'm talking about the dictionary definition of transparent, not the Obama muddy waters definition. Hostility and hate toward our fellow countrymen have exploded over the past eight plus years......

University stops professor from giving women better grades for being women - The College Fix
"The University of Akron has put its foot down against a professor who planned to raise the grades of female students so they would stay in his field of information sciences.
After The College Fix quoted an email to students from Liping Liu, an administrator told The Fix that the business and management professor’s gender-based approach was “unacceptable” and that no grades have been artificially raised.
Liu admitted to The Fix that his plan could be “questionable,” but said he wanted to “test the water” to see if this approach could “attract female students into future classes” and help correct chronic gender imbalances in his field.
...The professor informed students that he had sent their final grades to the registrar, and that three “categories” of students “may see their grade raised one level or two.”
Females would get grade raises as part of a “national movement to encourage female students to go [in]to information sciences.”
Others who would get an artificial boost: students whose exam scores showed “higher performance than their calculated ones” and students who attended but “missed reporting attendance.”

Today, they're not just shutting down conservative speakers on the campus. The state's Democrats may pass a law to shut down religious speech and create a statewide LGBT "safe space."
There's a new legislative proposal banning all conversion therapy as a fraudulent business practice — by not just mental health providers but anyone. "

"The Supreme Court has opened the floodgates to sports betting by overturning a federal law restricting legal betting on games.
See the source imageMore than a dozen states are likely to join New Jersey, which brought the suit challenging the1992 federal law, in instituting legalized betting on the NFL, NBA, and other leagues.
Other states, under pressure to balance their budgets without raising taxes, will surely follow.
Don’t bet, however, that this is good news for taxpayers.
Since states began instituting lotteries six decades ago, legalized gambling has spread throughout the United States.
Advocates have often touted gambling as a magic bullet to generate revenues, but it hasn’t delivered. And there’s plenty of evidence that it does harm—to people and to the greater economy..."

Political Editors: Trump Is Correct: China to Blame for Millions of Job Losses — The Patriot Post
"A new study concludes that Donald Trump is right to blame China for millions of Americans losing their manufacturing jobs in the 2000s.
Susan Houseman of the Upjohn Institute has found that the popular theory of new automation technology being the primary culprit for job losses among American manufactures is full of holes.
The finding is similar to that of a study conducted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor David Autor, whose research found that two decades of trade deficits with China is the primary culprit in American manufacturing job losses precisely because it has contributed to undercutting technological development.
In other words, the findings are the exact opposite of the widely assumed reason for job losses..."

"News that Dick's Sporting Goods has taken its pro-gun control campaign to the next level by hiring three lobbyists to push their agenda has resulted in yet more bad news for the now-politically divisive company: It's losing vendors at a rapid rate.
Within weeks of announcing its decision to pull all "assault-style" rifles from its stores and impose an age requirement of 21 for all gun purchasers, Dick's was suffering "deeper-than-expected" losses. Now it's experiencing a larger-than-expected loss of vendor contracts."

Illinois Liberals Destroy Home Values to Fund Union Pensions - The Rush Limbaugh Show
"RUSH: The Chicago Federal Reserve has unveiled its solution to the pension problem.
A speaker from the Chicago Fed — this is at an event that was sponsored by — it was last month — sponsored by the Civic Federation and the Federal Reserve Bank Chicago — Illinois has unfunded liabilities, particularly on pensions, that are off the charts.
“A speaker from the Chicago Fed proposed levying, across the state and in addition to current property taxes, a special property assessment they estimate would be about 1% of actual property value each year for 30 years.
“Homeowners with houses worth $250,000 would pay an additional $2,500 per year in property taxes, those with homes worth $500,000 would pay an additional $5,000, and those with homes worth $1 million would pay an additional $10,000,” a year for 30 years, on top of existing taxes.
Furthermore, you would not be able to escape this by selling your house and leaving. You know why? You’re not gonna be able to sell your house.
Nobody’s gonna buy your house in Chicago with this kind of taxation on it.

Cardiologist Called New Cholesterol Guidelines A Disgrace And Benefit For Big Pharma | The Daily Sheeple

Cardiologist Called New Cholesterol Guidelines A Disgrace And Benefit For Big Pharma | The Daily Sheeple:
“We have a saying in medicine. If you torture the data long enough, it will confess to anything.” Cardiologist Dr. Barbara Roberts on cholesterol guidelines.
It seems like every time the mainstream media reports some new changes to health guidelines, another recruit of people is suddenly considered in the unhealthy class.
Nowhere is this pattern seen more prominently than in the heart health industry.
After all, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States, having killed 597,000 Americans in 2011.
A Few Notable Examples of Changing Health Guidelines:
Image result for junk scienceIn 1998, around 29 million Americans became overweight overnight without gaining a single pound, thanks to new body mass index (BMI) standards by the NIH. Many were suddenly considered obese, including most athletes. ...
...So, as you can see, the AHA is mainly responsible for some of these major changes.
We’d like to circle back to the 2013 change – the one that determined many Americans were now at risk with their cholesterol and should be placed on statins.
Cardiologist Dr. Barbara Roberts had plenty to say about this change and even authored a book called The Truth about Statins: Risks and Alternatives to Cholesterol-Lowering DrugsShe is director of the Women’s Cardiac Center at The Miriam Hospital and associate clinical professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Convergence R.I. reported that the doctor was angry and had to speak out about this change:
She does not mince her words when it comes to the new cholesterol guidelines recently published by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology – which have suggested that millions of healthy Americans should start taking statins.
“The new guidelines are based on shoddy science and misinterpretation of the data,” she told ConvergenceRI in a recent interview. “This is a gift to Big Pharma. The American Heart Association has become little more than a propaganda arm of Big Pharma and Big Food. It’s a disgrace.”...

A Quiet Place Is a Loud Proclamation of Humanity's Greatest Virtues

A Quiet Place Is a Loud Proclamation of Humanity's Greatest Virtues
"...The film depicts the family in the “quaint traditionalism” of the “White American family,” as Damien Straker lays out in his review.
Image result for A Quiet Place It’s all too Norman Rockwell for him -- the holding of hands to “pray before eating” at the farmhouse, and the “slow dance” of a mother and father in love as they exist within desperate circumstances.
Straker also laments the “conventional gender roles” employed in the film.
The father as the hunter, provider, and protector.
The mother is cast in the role of the nurturer and the foundation of home life.
The left has a problem with this arrangement, because in challenges the gender-neutral world that they imagine exists.
...Then there’s the final straw for the left – the family’s reliance upon a gun.
As Richard Brody writes in the New Yorker, the movie “disgorges its entire stifled and impacted ideological content” when Emily Blunt sobbingly asks of her husband, “Who are we if we can’t protect [our children]?”
Brody writes of his displeasure in “the rustic farmhouse” turning into a “visual fortress” where the “stash of firearms” is “the ultimate game changer, the ultimate and decisive defense against home intruders.”...

The Wind Energy Fiasco, Writ Large | Power Line

The Wind Energy Fiasco, Writ Large | Power Line
"Until such time as electricity can be stored at scale, wind energy is a terrible idea.
Across the U.S., wind turbines produce electricity approximately 40% of the time. That means they are unreliable.
Since we expect the lights to go on 100% of the time, we need enough reliable energy sources–coal, natural gas, nuclear, hydroelectric–to meet peak load.
Which means that wind energy is inevitably an expensive sideshow.
Why do wind farms exist?
Solely because of government subsidies.
Warren Buffett, one of the largest wind farm investors, said:
[O]n wind energy, we get a tax credit if we build a lot of wind farms. That’s the only reason to build them. They don’t make sense without the tax credit.
If wind turbines are a bad idea, enormous wind turbines are worse.
It is not good news that GE has announced the biggest wind turbine ever
How big is it?
A bit shorter than the Eiffel Tower.
And it is intended for offshore placement:
GE Renewable Energy will invest more than USD 400 million over the next three to five years to develop and deploy the largest, most powerful offshore wind turbine – the Haliade-X 12 MW...
This graphic puts the size of GE’s new turbine in perspective:
...My state, Minnesota, has relentlessly promoted “green” energy in the form of wind.
At least $15 billion has been spent on wind turbines and transmission lines, to virtually no effect, apart from the fact that electricity rates here have risen 23% faster than the national average.
Taxpayers and ratepayers have been fleeced, and government cronies and utilities have profited handily..."

This Free-Market Competition State Is Producing Twice As Much Renewable Energy As California | The Daily Sheeple

Image result for don't mess with texasThis Free-Market Competition State Is Producing Twice As Much Renewable Energy As California | The Daily Sheeple:
"Texas produces twice as much renewable energy — including wind, solar and other types of power sources — as its heavily regulated competitor California, Forbes reports.
While the energy industry is booming in Texas, where the economy operates on free-market competition, California’s environmentally conscious regulations are financially taxing for citizens of the already expensive state and its ambitious future goals for producing renewable energy.
Texas and California were the first states in the country to introduce electricity market competition in 1996, but California changed its laws in 2001 following a massive energy crisis, which caused an 800-percent increase in electricity retail prices over the course of four months..."

Airlines Are Quietly Cutting Corners On Costs And Pilot Experience. It Should SCARE THE HELL OUT OF YOU | The Daily Sheeple

Airlines Are Quietly Cutting Corners On Costs And Pilot Experience. It Should SCARE THE HELL OUT OF YOU | The Daily Sheeple:
"So you just bought an airline ticket.
You wanted the cheapest fare, of course, but safety did cross your mind?
For that reason, you clicked on tickets being sold by legacy airlines.
Sure, it was a few bucks more — but you figured they’ve been in business a long time.
You might have heard about an accident they were involved in – but that was years ago.
Actually decades ago.
...Over the past couple of decades, however, the familiar landscape of the airline industry has changed dramatically.
Now, smaller and lesser-known regional airlines carry roughly half of all domestic passengers for America’s “legacy” airlines.
Their airplanes are painted in the same livery as the legacy carrier(s) they code-share with, and their tickets are sold on the legacy’s website.
Passengers must read the fine print to learn that — although they purchased their tickets on American, United, or Delta’s website — they have about a 50/50 chance of being flown by an entirely different carrier.
And flown by pilots who work, not for their legacy airline, but for the code-share partner Regional airline.
So why does this matter?
After all, a pilot is a pilot — right?
Here’s where it starts to get very murky..."

The Watergate Analogy Applies to Obama, Not Trump - The Rush Limbaugh Show:

Image result for flickr commons images Richard Nixon"But what did Obama know about the mole in the Trump campaign and when did he know it? So if you really want to draw the Watergate analogy, it points right to Barack Obama. Note: None of that is being investigated. Not a single shred of it. Not a morsel of that is being investigated. In fact, I believe that this entire investigation of Trump is actually a cover-up of what the Obama intelligence community — Department of Justice, FBI — did to try to nail Trump during the campaign and to corrupt his transition period after he won the election to destroy or paralyze his presidency."
