Tip: Pentagon Covering Up Fact That Female Officers Nearly Sank Navy Ship : The Other McCain
Tip: Pentagon Covering Up Fact That Female Officers Nearly Sank Navy Ship : The Other McCain: "An anonymous email came in over the transom this morning:
Hi, Stacy.
During the early weeks after the USS Fitzgerald was speared by a lumbering Philippine container ship, it was noteworthy that the captain and a couple of admirals were publically named, but not the actual officer in charge, the officer of the deck. (OOD)
The other person who should have kept the Fitz out of trouble is the person in charge of the combat information center, the Tactical Action Officer.
That individual is supposed to be monitoring the combat radar, which can detect a swimmer at a distance of two miles.
Not until a year later, when the final reports are made public and the guilty parties have been court-martialed, does the truth come out.
The OOD was named Sarah, and the Tactical Action Officer was named Natalie, and they weren’t speaking to each other!!!
The Tactical Action Officer would normally be in near constant communication with the OOD, but there is no record of any communication between them that entire shift!
Another fun fact: In the Navy that won WWII, the damage control officers were usually some of the biggest and strongest men aboard, able to close hatches, shore up damaged areas with timbers, etc. The Fitz’s damage control officer was also a woman, and she never left the bridge.
She handled the aftermath of the accident remotely, without lifting a finger herself!
Look it up: The OOD was Sarah Coppock, Tactical Action Officer was Natalie Combs. . . .
When I noticed last year that they were doing all they could to keep the OOD’s name out of the headlines, I speculated to my son that it was a she.
Turns out all the key people (except one officer in the CIC) were female!...

NYT focuses on small math test gap favoring some boys while downplaying much larger reading test gap favoring girls - AEI
"The chart above (with the red ellipses added) is from the New York Times article “Where Boys Outperform Girls in Math: Rich, White and Suburban Districts” and is based on 260 million standardized reading and math test scores for third through eighth graders in nearly every district in the country.
Here’s the story’s lead:
In much of the country, the stereotype that boys do better than girls at math isn’t true – on average, they perform about the same, at least through eighth grade.
But there’s a notable exception.
In school districts that are mostly rich, white and suburban, boys are much more likely to outperform girls in math, according to a new study from Stanford researchers, one of the most comprehensive looks at the gender gap in test scores at the school district level.
As Warren Meyer points out on the Coyote Blog:
If your first reaction was something like “wow, the gender gap in favor of girls in English simply dwarfs any gender gap that exists in favor of boys in math,” you had the same reaction as I did.
All I could think was that all this discussion of getting more girls in STEM is a fine aspiration, but my God, boys in English are a dumpster fire.
I saw the chart standalone like this before I flipped to the source New York Times article and read more.
And, incredibly, this is the title of the article: “Where Boys Outperform Girls in Math: Rich, White and Suburban Districts.”...

Feminist bookstore to close this month, blames white supremacy - The College Fix
"A quarter-century-old feminist bookstore in Portland, Oregon is slated to close its doors at the end of this month, and part of the reason, it says, is its “inability to ‘reform and re-envision’ a space founded on ‘white, cis feminism (read: white supremacy).'”
In Other Words, founded in 1993 by Portland State University professor Johanna Brenner and a pair of women’s health activists, also cited difficulty with funding and a lack of volunteers.
According to The Oregonian, the store’s mission is “to strengthen resistance against a culture of oppression. We seek to create a safer space where women, people of color, queer, trans, gender variant folks, workers, and those who live at the intersections of these identities can organize for self-determination and build a sustainable movement for liberation.”...

Obama’s Culpability
It is not hard to see why the FBI would exonerate Clinton. It was not the bureau’s decision to make, but rather,as Andrew McCarthy first explained, it was the president’s.
“If Clinton had been charged,” McCarthy wrote early this year, “Obama’s culpable involvement would have been patent. In any prosecution of Clinton, the Clinton–Obama emails would have been in the spotlight.

Democratic Rep. Admits The Child Migrant Crisis ‘Was Kept Very Quiet Under The Obama Administration’ | The Daily Caller:
Cuellar added that the number of children being held at the border right now is similar to the amount during the Obama administration.
“We still see the numbers,” he said, adding that “not all of them are being separated. Some of them are coming alone.”
“Keep in mind that under the law, you can separate a child if that person, the adult, is not the real parent or the custodian because sometimes we see situations where they’ll bring a child because they know of the policy that we have over here with children.”

"One of the biggest takeaways from the Department of Justice's 500-page inspector general report is how deep the contempt for voters is among the Federal Bureau of Investigation's leadership elite.
The text messages are incredible. According to the gleanings of J. Christian Adams over at Pajamas Media:
One FBI agent on the Hillary investigation wrote in an FBI text:Trump's supporters are all poor to middle class, uneducated, lazy POS."POS" is the agent's acronym for "Pieces Of S‑‑‑."
There's also this from Adams:
In another FBI communication, Strzok says he visited a rural Virginia Walmart – and the customers had a political odor:Just went to a southern Virginia Walmart. I could SMELL the Trump support....Strzok does not say he could see Trump support, or hear it discussed. Rather, he smelled it among the customers.
And this:
Other FBI agents on the Hillary investigation ridiculed the "average American public." Others referred to Donald Trump as "Donald Drumpf" on FBI instant messages repeatedly.Even after the election, FBI agents complained about being on duty on Inauguration Day. "F‑‑‑ Trump," wrote one agent on the Hillary investigation in an FBI communication.
It's so bad that the I.G. report said these remarks, just oozing with contempt for the American public, led to an atmosphere that "has brought discredit to themselves, sowed doubt about the FBI's handling of the Midyear investigation, and impacted the reputation of the FBI."...

American woman!-----Hart County grandmother kills rabid bobcat with bare hands
Hart County grandmother kills rabid bobcat with bare hands:
“...They go for your jugular ... because when they can get the vein you’re dead in a couple of minutes,” she said.
This bobcat did go for her upper body.
“It caught me slightly on my face, but I got him before he could do much damage there,” she said.
“I took it straight to the ground and started inching my hands up to its throat.
I knew that was the only way I was getting out of this.”
With both hands around the bobcat’s neck she began squeezing, but she never shouted for help because her 5-year-old granddaughter was in the house.
“I was scared if I screamed for help that my granddaughter would come out and I didn’t want that to happen,” she said.
“Once I got him where he wasn’t moving I started screaming for my daughter-in-law to call 911,” she said.
Phillips’ son was also called after the 911 call and he showed up with a gun.
But Phillips would not release her grip on the crazed animal as she feared it might not truly be dead.
She didn’t want her son to fire the gun because she was so close, so he pulled a knife.
“My son stabbed it four or five times, but it never budged so I knew it was completely dead,” she said..."

Obama administration placed children with human traffickers, report says - The Washington Post
Obama administration placed children with human traffickers, report says - The Washington Post: January 28, 2016--The Obama administration failed to protect thousands of Central American children who have flooded across the U.S. border since 2011, leaving them vulnerable to traffickers and to abuses at the hands of government-approved caretakers, a Senate investigation has found.
The Office of Refugee Resettlement, an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services, failed to do proper background checks of adults who claimed the children, allowed sponsors to take custody of multiple unrelated children, and regularly placed children in homes without visiting the locations, according to a 56-page investigative report released Thursday.
And once the children left federally funded shelters, the report said, the agency permitted their adult sponsors to prevent caseworkers from providing them post-release services..."

Yeah, for reals:
If you have friends or relatives who support Donald Trump you should confront them.
Explain to them that they are complicit with Trump’s cruelty and sadism.
Then communicate that you will no longer speak with them, nor will you offer them emotional, financial or other types of support until they denounce Donald Trump and what he represents — and make amends through speech and action.
This will not be easy.

Identity Warriors Have Infiltrated the Sciences. Here's the Damage They're Doing
"In conversations with most college officials, many CEOs, many politicians, and race hustlers, it’s not long before the magical words “diversity” and “inclusiveness” drop from their lips.
Racial minorities are the intended targets of this sociological largesse, but women are included, as well.
This obsession with diversity and inclusion is in the process of leading the nation to decline in a number of areas.
We’re told how it’s doing so in science, in an article by Heather Mac Donald, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, titled “How Identity Politics Is Harming the Sciences.”
Mac Donald says that identity politics has already taken over the humanities and social sciences on American campuses.
Waiting in the wings for a similar takeover are the STEM fields—science, technology, engineering, and math.
...Universities and other institutions have started watering down standards and requirements in order to attract more minorities and women.
Some of the arguments for doing so border on insanity.
A math education professor at the University of Illinois wrote that “mathematics itself operates as whiteness.”
She says that the ability to solve algebra and geometry problems perpetuates “unearned privilege” among whites..."

The past practice had been to give a free pass to an adult who is part of a family unit.
The new Trump policy is to prosecute all adults.
The idea is to send a signal that we are serious about our laws and to create a deterrent against re-entry. (Illegal entry is a misdemeanor, illegal re-entry a felony.)

In April, the New York Times reported:
Some migrants have admitted they brought their children not only to remove them from danger in such places as Central America and Africa, but because they believed it would cause the authorities to release them from custody sooner.Others have admitted to posing falsely with children who are not their own, and Border Patrol officials say that such instances of fraud are increasing.

The city is also among the most dangerous nationwide. There were 1,217 violent crimes in 2016 for every 100,000 residents, more than triple the U.S. violent crime rate of 386 per 100,000.
