Kent County Land Bank in talks to build modular homes across the state | MLive.com
GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- InnovaLaB, the rebranded Kent County Land Bank, is in talks to bring about 200 modular homes to a number of communities across the state next year.
InnovaLaB Director David Allen says the land bank is budgeting next year to help implement 200 modular homes, with "well over" 100 of them coming in the spring if all goes to plan.
Over the summer the land bank rebranded itself as InnovaLaB, an at-cost broker of modular homes for vacant public lands.
Realtors and developers pay a fee to build the modular homes on other property.
The home prices range between $159,000 to $239,000, depending on the size, model and finishes. Allen billed the price range as a sweet spot for "workforce housing," or homes for income earners who are out-priced by their area's housing market.
Word traveled fast across the state about the enterprise.
Soon after rebranding, non-profits, governments and for-profit developers in a number of out-county communities reached out to land bank staff about the modular model branded "InnovaHomes."
Those communities include Flint, Muskegon, Muskegon Heights, Romulus, Marquette, Hamtramck, Canadian Lakes and Newaygo..."

"A dozen migrants traveling by foot from Honduras to the U.S. to seek asylum filed a class-action lawsuit Thursday against President Trump, the Department of Homeland Security and others, claiming a violation of their due process under the Fifth Amendment.

Legal marijuana in Michigan: What you need to know
"With a last minute infusion of cash and support that was baked into Proposal 1 from the start, voters decided to legalize marijuana for adult recreational use Tuesday by a comfortable 56-44 percent margin, becoming the first state in the Midwest to free the weed.
But voters shouldn’t conclude that marijuana will be readily available or an instant presence on the streets of cities across the state.
When will marijuana be legal?..."

Miami is a case study of birthright citizenship abuse
Miami is a case study of birthright citizenship abuse:
At what point do American citizens acknowledge their own laws are being used against their interests? No reasonable person can argue this abuse is beneficial to taxpayers. Lawmakers should look to cities like Miami to understand the loopholes in birthright citizenship. Executive order or not, elected officials should agree to put an end to this abuse.

The 3 Big Differences Between Conservatives and Progressives
The 3 Big Differences Between Conservatives and Progressives:
What’s the difference between a conservative and a progressive?
Here are three examples.
No. 1: Conservatives and progressives have different views about individuals and communities.
Conservatives ask: “What can I do for myself, my family, my community, and my fellow citizens?”
Progressives ask: “What is unfair?” “What am I owed?” “What has offended me today?” “What must my country do for me?”
The traditional American ethic of achievement gives way to the progressive ethic of aggrievement.

Why the Left Is Consumed With Hate - WSJ
"Even before President Trump’s election, hatred had begun to emerge on the American left—counterintuitively, as an assertion of guilelessness and moral superiority.
At the Women’s March in Washington the weekend after Mr. Trump’s inauguration, the pop star Madonna said, “I have thought an awful lot of blowing up the White House.”
Here hatred was a vanity, a braggadocio meant to signal her innocence of the sort of evil that, in her mind, the White House represented. (She later said the comment was “taken wildly out of context.”)
For many on the left a hateful anti-Americanism has become a self-congratulatory lifestyle.
“America was never that great,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently said.
For radical groups like Black Lives Matter, hatred of America is a theme of identity, a display of racial pride.
For other leftists, hate is a license.
Conservative speakers can be shouted down, even assaulted, on university campuses.
Republican officials can be harassed in restaurants, in the street, in front of their homes.
Certain leaders of the left—Rep. Maxine Waters comes to mind—are self-appointed practitioners of hate, urging their followers to think of hatred as power itself..."

Brett Kavanaugh's lying accusers should be thrown in jail - Washington Times
Brett Kavanaugh's lying accusers should be thrown in jail - Washington Times:
And now, the Democrats, the liberals, the progressives who sparked this fire and fury against an innocent man should pay — beginning with the prosecution of this horrible woman Munro-Leighton. Grassley, quite rightly, has asked the FBI and Justice to do just, to prosecute her for lying to congressional members and for obstructing Congress. He’s also asked the FBI to investigate Julie Swetnick, the woman who accused Kavanaugh of involvement in gang rapes, and prosecute her for any lies. And he’s asked investigators to take a look at attorney Michael Avenatti and see if he’s committed any prosecutable offenses, as well.
Good.
Anyone tied to these crimes of deception against Kavanaugh ought to face the legal consequences for their lies.

Evidence of Brain Injuries in Football Players at Surprisingly Young Age - Neuroscience News
"Summary: Researchers find evidence of cognitive issues and miRNA biomarkers, indicating brain injuries from concussions or head-to-head contact, in college football players.
The findings indicated lasting damage caused by sports related concussions occur earlier than expected.
There have been more and more cases confirming that repeated hits to the head have lifelong consequences for professional football players, but a new study by Orlando Health in collaboration with the Concussion Neuroimaging Consortium finds evidence of lasting effects from head injuries at a much younger age than expected..."

Senate Judiciary Committee releases full Brett Kavanaugh report: 'No evidence' to back sexual assault claims:
The Republican-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee released a report late Saturday night that it said completely exonerates Brett Kavanaugh from “numerous allegations” of sexual misconduct.
“This was a serious and thorough investigation that left no stone unturned in our pursuit of the facts,” wrote committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, in a statement about the 414-page report. “In the end, there was no credible evidence to support the allegations against the nominee.”

"A Senate Judiciary Committee report released Saturday revealed that committee investigators interviewed a man who described a sexual encounter with Christine Blasey Ford that shared similarities to the one she claimed she had with Supreme Court Brett Kavanaugh.
According to the report, a man — whose name is redacted — told committee investigators in an interview on September 26, 2018, that when he was a 19-year-old college student, he had visited D.C. over spring break and kissed a girl he believes was Christine Blasey Ford. According to the report:
He said that the kiss happened in the bedroom of a house which was about a 15-to 20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro, that Dr. Ford was wearing a swimsuit under her clothing, and that the kissing ended when a friend jumped on them as a joke. [Redacted] said that the woman initiated the kissing and that he did not force himself on her.
The man’s description of his encounter with Ford is similar to the one Ford alleged she had with Kavanaugh in three ways.
...In addition, the committee is investigating whether a friend of Ford and former FBI official Monica McLean, had tried to tamper with witness testimony by trying to persuade another friend of Ford, Leland Keyser, to change her testimony."

Riley: On Tuesday, vote for or against hate
Riley: On Tuesday, vote for or against hate
"In two days, the rubber meets the road.
...This election is a vote for hate or a vote against hate.
...Vote Tuesday like your life depends on it -- because it does.
...This election isn’t about parties.
This election is about a president whose supporters are suppressing votes in elections across the country by purging people from voter rolls, limiting the number of places where people can vote and limiting the hours that people can vote.
And most of these suppressions affect minorities more.
...This is the election to choose between saving our democracy or choosing a path being forged by hate, discrimination and a growing segregation.
Vote Tuesday.
But know that you’re either voting for hate – or against it."

Gutfeld on Kavanaugh's false accuser | Fox News
Gutfeld on Kavanaugh's false accuser | Fox News
"A woman who accused Justice Brett Kavanaugh of rape has admitted she made it all up.
When investigators confronted leftwing activist Judy Munro-Leighton, she admitted it was all just a "ploy."
To stop the nomination.
It nearly ruined a man and his family.
Which is easy to do, when one entire party rejects due process.
All you need is a postcard to Dianne Feinstein.
It’s easier than registering to vote.
...Now, it’s important that all of these people get what’s coming -- after due process, of course.
Because what they did to Kavanaugh, could be done to you.
It’s also despicable, how much press that the allegation got, versus the press it isn't getting now - once it's debunked.
Which it raises another question.
If the Dems actually believed in these charges, why aren't they pursuing them now?
I mean, so what if he got confirmed?
Why stop justice?
Why aren't they presenting evidence and witnesses?
Could it be they knew the charges were false from the start?
Could it be they were willing to stand by a false smear that would destroy multiple lives - just to score a political win?
You know the answer.
Remember it on Tuesday."
