"Retired NYU professor Dr. Michael Rectenwald explained how educators are encouraging the spread of socialism throughout college campuses, on “Fox & Friends” Monday.
“You had professors going over to the Soviet Union from America, going over to the Soviet Union, learning about the Soviet system of education. 
And being convinced that they should bring it to the U.S. And re-engineer the entire education system after it,” he said.
“And this was a professor, particularly George Counts who came back, taught at Columbia teacher’s college.
And he’s teaching teachers who are going to then propagate the same ideology that he’s teaching them. 
This is how it spreads.”
Rectenwald claimed almost half of all professors in academia identify as socialist and said nearly all of them are “leftist.”

US Quietly Plans To Make Asylum Seekers Wait In Mexico — Mexico Not So Sure | The Daily Caller:

A new Trump administration policy began Tuesday that would force asylum seekers coming from Mexico to wait in that country while their cases go through U.S. immigration courts.
On the first day of the policy, which currently applies only to San Diego’s San Ysidro border crossing, a 55-year-old Honduran man, Carlos Gomez, became the first asylum seeker to be returned to Mexico. Gomez reportedly asked to be taken to a migrant shelter in Tijuana.
The AP called the shift “one of the most dramatic changes to the U.S. immigration system of Donald Trump’s presidency.”

MUSKEGON, MI – Muskegon High School students are among the top 25 percent statewide academically when their economic status is taken into consideration.

That’s the good news for Muskegon County in a report issued this month that considers poverty rates when ranking high school test performances.

...Muskegon outperformed nearly three-quarters of schools throughout the state when economic status was considered in the 2018 Michigan Public High School Context and Performance (CAP) Report Card, which was released by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy this month.

CAP uses free lunch eligibility statistics and standardized test scores of 11th-graders to rank schools. 

The study first derives an expectation of each school’s performance based on free lunch eligibility, and then compares test scores to that expectation to assign a CAP score, rank and letter grade..."

• with a dedicated funding source from new water, fertilizer, and dairy fees, 
• to enable the State Water Resources Control Board to assist communities, 
• particularly disadvantaged communities, 
• in paying for the short-term and long-term costs of obtaining access to safe and affordable drinking water..."

But a bill introduced last week would revive “administrative” forfeiture in Mississippi, a form of civil forfeiture that has even fewer safeguards for innocent property owners.

“Gender identity” refers to an individual’s inner sense of being a man or a woman or both or neither. It exists along a spectrum and can be fluid. It’s entirely arbitrary and self-disclosed. And rather incoherent, as it’s not at all clear what it means to “feel like” a woman, or how I would know if I felt like one, or why my feeling like a woman (whatever that means) would make me a woman.
As a result, if “gender identity” becomes a protected class in federal civil rights law, as Pelosi’s Equality Act would result in, there will be serious negative consequences. That’s where we agree. And that’s where we can work together.

"It’s become common to point out that those who most preach “tolerance” are often themselves highly “intolerant.”

But why is that?

As University of Texas professor and ethics expert J. Budziszewski explains, it may have a lot to do with tolerance’s character as a virtue.

Let me explain. 

Or rather, I’ll explain Budziszewski’s explanation from his excellent article, “The Illusion of Moral Neutrality.” 

This explanation involves three steps:
1) Tolerance is a virtue.
...Thus, for instance, we may tolerate someone voicing a wrong opinion because suppressing it: 

1) could lead to further, more insidious suppressions of free speech; 

2) could eliminate the chance for truth to shine through when pitted against error.

According to Budziszewski, the extremes to be avoided in exercising tolerance are “softheadedness”—“putting up with something we should suppress”—and “narrowmindedness”—“suppressing what we should put up with.”
2) The virtues are interdependent..."
