Climate change denial strongly linked to right-wing nationalism | EurekAlert! Science News
"With Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, as a hub, the world's first global research network into climate change denial has now been established.
Building on a brand-new research publication showing the links between conservatism, xenophobia and climate change denial, the network will study how the growth of right-wing nationalism in Europe has contributed to an increase in climate change denial.
Scientific awareness of the greenhouse effect, and human influence on the climate, has existed for over three decades.
During the 1980s, there was a strong environmental movement and a political consensus on the issue, but in recent years, climate change denial - denying that changes to the climate are due to human influence on the environment - has increased.
"Two strong groups have joined forces on this issue - the extractive industry, and right-wing nationalists. The combination has taken the current debate to a much more dramatic level than previously, at the same time as our window of opportunity is disappearing."...

The solution, they claim, is to authorize a central world authority with the power to regulate humanity’s “carbon footprint.”
Both premises on which they base this outlandish proposal are observably false.
Both premises DENY key scientific EVIDENCE of a naturally-occurring pattern of global climate fluctuation observable in the fossil record...
This plainly false statement DENIES the observable reality which modern technology has recently made so visible to the general public...
Every victory for those who deny observable reality results in more power in government hands; power to use in ever-more corrupt ways.
Why is that so?
When the physical reality to which we’d otherwise refer in common is denied, the version of “reality” that then prevails is determined by those in power.
We are no longer equals in observation of even the most fundamental reality.
Might makes right."

They have done this because their intelligence has confirmed that Iran is close to having nuclear weapons, along with the capacity to deliver them.
...The Saudis, who were reluctant to take this step, placed a great deal of faith in President Trump to keep the Iranians in check and to change the political dynamics in the Middle East, but they are no longer certain he can survive the relentless attacks from the pro-Iranian Democrats.

It's vitally important that we the people use the tools we have to fulfill the role our press abandoned to the insanity of Trump Derrangemt Syndrome."
COMMON SENSE: Last week, while Americans were obsessing about the government shutdown and the shenanigans of an opportunistic Native American to make a political statement, a major shift in Middle Eastern politics occurred.
It almost went unnoticed by the media, despite the fact that it will change everything.
Saudi Arabia has begun to develop its own nuclear capability.
Out of self-preservation, the Saudis have taken this bold step to level the playing field with their mortal enemy, Iran.
...Nevertheless, there is now a nuclear arms race in the Middle East that cannot be stopped by any other means than force, but the fools in the media are too consumed with "getting Trump" to inform Americans about this.
Not many are even paying attention.
God help us!

Ret. Army Colonel: Trump 'Needs to Act' on Authority to Declare Nat'l Emergency to Secure Border | Fox News Insider:
Army Col. Douglas MacGregor (Ret.) said Friday that it'd be "absolutely" wise for President Trump to declare a national emergency in order to secure the U.S. border.
Trump said Friday that there is a "good chance" he'll make such a declaration if funding for a wall along the border cannot be agreed to.
Government funding is set to expire on Feb. 15, and lawmakers have until then to reach a border security agreement or be faced with another potential shutdown.
MacGregor said on Tucker Carlson Tonight that only Trump himself can address a potential declaration of emergency.
"He has the constitutional authority to do so," he said. "What he needs is an executive order."

"I’ve been a U.S. senator for three weeks now, and I can tell you that reports of hate and incompetence in Washington are severely understated.
Things are actually much worse than they appear.
One year ago, I called on Congress to make a simple deal on immigration requiring both Republicans and Democrats to do two things — compromise and respect the wishes of the American people.
This deal is so logical and so easy, even politicians in Washington should be able to grasp it.
But, as the events of the past few weeks have shown, they cannot.
...The truth is, the vast majority of Republicans are ready to make this deal, and are ready to provide a route for the dreamers.
But Democratic leaders are not ready to make this or any deal.
Sure, the Democrats have voiced support and cast votes for border security in the form of physical barriers in the past, but they won’t do so now because of their hatred of the president of the United States.
Hate is bad that way; it clouds your judgment.
As former senator Alan Simpson said at the funeral for former president George H.W. Bush, “Hatred corrodes the container it’s carried in.”
That’s the predicament that Democratic leaders find themselves in now.
They hate President Trump so much that they cannot behave in a rational manner..."

Germany's Sixth Army in Stalingrad in World War II | HistoryNet:
"...Stalingrad became a city of rubble, smoke and ash, where seeing and breathing became chores and movement invited anything from a sniper’s bullet to an artillery barrage. In one of modern history’s great examples of leadership, Chuikov kept his men fighting by the force of his character. He offered no rhetoric and made no promises. Instead, he projected a dour fatalism that linked the fate of the city and its garrison. German generals and colonels also led from the front, hoping that inspiration would make up for lost mobility. Compelled to substitute courage for skill and lives for maneuver, however, the German army in Stalingrad was ‘demodernizing,’ losing the capacity to fight anything but a close-quarters battle of attrition.
German Chief of Staff Franz Halder warned of the risks and was dismissed on September 24. The message was clear. To meet Paulus’ calls for reinforcements in the face of mounting casualties, Weichs began stripping less active sectors north and south of Stalingrad of German formations and replacing them with Romanians and Italians. The gamble might have been justified if the German-tipped spearhead had somehow been able to recapture the initiative. Instead, the most capable German formations were being chewed up in fruitless attacks in Stalingrad. A Luftwaffe never designed for sustained operations was suffering from increasing maintenance problems. Artillery pieces were wearing out. Tanks were breaking down. The Soviets by contrast had succeeded in systematizing their reinforcement and resupply system across the Volga. More and more heavy guns were supporting the infantry.
On September 30, Hitler had announced Stalingrad’s imminent capture. Instead, it was the Germans who were pinned in place, able to drive forward only locally and episodically, with losses far out of proportion to either military or propaganda gains..."
