Olympic Skier Caught With A Needle In His Arm During Blood Doping Raid
"Boy, it’d suck to be this guy.
German and Austrian officials conducted a doping raid at the Nordic skiing world championships last week in Seefeld, Austria.
a person standing in a roomFive skiers and four other people were arrested at the championships, while German authorities claim they also arrested the alleged ringleader in Erfurt, Germany.
Two pro cyclists already admitted to blood doping last week, but nobody will likely be as embarrassed as the dude caught on camera receiving a transfusion.
The man who was caught red-armed is Austrian Max Hauke, a veteran of the Sochi and Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
A brief video obtained by Norwegian network NRK shows Hauke, unsure of what to do, sitting on a chair while police mill around. (German paper Vorarlberg also had it, though they have since deleted it without explanation.)
Maybe he can try the “The needle fell into my arm!” excuse?
The police officer who took the video was reportedly fired and could face criminal charges...."

An article from the New York Post on Saturday noted that Ocasio-Cortez, the main proponent of the Green New Deal, does not do much to limit her carbon footprint and reminded the self-described “democratic socialist” that she has encouraged others to do so while warning that “the world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.”

"The progressive media is dragging out the "Red Scare" meme to tar Republicans for calling attention to the Democrat lurch to the far left.
See the source imageTrump and Pence were uncomfortably close to the bulls-eye in the SOTU and CPAC remarks.
The progressive mass media is handling this just like they do acts of terrorism - when a terrorist claims he did it for Islam and the glory of Allah, their first response is "No you didn't, Islam is a religion of peace. You did it due to global climate change or a lack of education."
The terrorist gets mad and says, "You infidel, we did it because you are a non-believer and we are commanded by Allah to kill the non-believers and the Jews. Allahu Snackbar!"
The next day, the media reports, "The attack was likely due to America's imperialism, racism, xenophobia and regional hegemony."
"No, idiots. We want to kill you to defend Islam! Convert or die! Death to the Great Satan!"
To which the media responds, "We may never know what the motives of this group were but we are pretty sure it wasn't jihadism."
Same with the Democrats.
When the Democrats saunter up to the podium and say, "I'm a socialist who wants government to give everything to you because everything that has happened to you is the bourgeois fault and billionaires will be shot!", the media says "That's not REAL socialism! It's democracy at work!"
When that doesn't work, they say, "It's your fault for noticing. How dare you! Have you no shame?"

The Other Opiate Problem

The Other Opiate Problem
"I used to love "60 Minutes."
...Oh, how times have changed!
On February 24, 60 Minutes did a segment about a drug manufacturer who is calling out drug companies for "corrupt," "immoral," and "depraved" actions in marketing opioids.
Supposedly, the incentive for changing the labeling of opioids to allow for extended use is some sort of moral crime.
David Kessler, former Commissioner of the FDA said, "There are no studies on the safety or efficacy of opioids for long term use." (8:25 in the video)
Case closed!
We need to restrict opioids to two or three days at most.
...while there may be no studies on extended use, those of us in medicine are painfully aware that while some patients do well without opioids, others require what Dr. Kessler would call "extended" use.
This is a result of the Bell curve, or "normal distribution" of response to drugs.
The person whose knee replacement requires zero opioids is on the left side of this curve, while the one who needs them for two weeks is on the right
Most of us fall somewhere in the middle.
Every surgeon and every anesthesiologist lives with this curve every day.
Importantly, the difference between the left and right sides of the curve isn't two or three pain pills.
The range is from zero to a hundred or more.
And that leads to a key piece of information that 60 Minutes completely ignored.
Most physicians routinely use medications in "off-label" ways.
To understand this, we have to point out one part of the Law of the Bureaucrat.
Each FDA officer has been hired to "protect the public" from unsafe drugs.
This means that people are too stupid to use drugs properly
(Unfortunately, this is often all too true, even when explicit instructions are provided).
And it means that doctors are too stupid to prescribe them safely, leaving the bureaucrat charged with "protecting the public" as the smartest person in the room.
That then means that the bureaucrat must create iron-clad instructions for how medical personnel with more training and experience than him or her should prescribe the drugs..."

(FOX 2) - Michigan's Secretary of State system was beset with issues after a system upgrade earlier this month that was supposed to make everything better in the long run.
The issues and wait times were especially bad on Wednesday, when customers told us the text notification system was not accurately predicting wait times.
We were told the self-service kiosks were also down - and many waited 3 or 4 hours for routine services.
"I came here at 2:30 and was told it was a three to four-hour wait," one woman at the Secretary of State branch in Novi told us.
..."I got in line about 2 o'clock and they said the estimated wait time was 220 minutes," Alex Tartaglia told us..."

UPS stops deliveries to Muslim 'no-go zone' - WND:

The Swedish daily newspaper Sydsvenskan reported a customer in the Rosengard district of Malmo received notice from UPS that the company no longer delivers to private addresses there because of the risk of being exposed to robbery or other crimes.
PostNord Sverige, the Swedish postal company, does not deliver packages to another area in Malmo, Seved.
“We must think of our staff in the first place,” said Mathias Krummel of PostNord.
A UPS employee said home delivery in Rosengard was stopped two months ago after drivers were attacked.
Even in some areas in Stockholm, UPS has stopped the delivery of parcels, Sydsvenskan reported.

"My colleagues have written elsewhere about the energy and environmental components of the “Green New Deal” proposals that have been enthusiastically agreed to by most declared Democratic candidates for the presidency and which are about to be debated in the Senate.
In this post I will take a brief look at the “social justice” components of the proposed Deal, which cover issues such as monetary theory and labor and employment policy.
What we will see is that they are just as radical as the proposals to decarbonize the economy in ten years.
...Here are the “social justice” aspects of the Deal, as described in the now-withdrawn FAQ that was issued with the initial draft Senate resolution.
Long, long list.
Read 'em all!

  • Ensure that all GND jobs are union jobs that pay prevailing wages and hire local...
  • Guarantee a job with family-sustaining wages...
...The architects of the Green New Deal often refer to themselves as European-style social democrats or at most, Democratic Socialists.
...there is an appropriate word for the political system they seek to institute—it is communism.
We know from history that the appropriate color to describe communism is not green, but a deep, bloody red."

"Social media has been full of the Democrats talking about the Stormy Daniels affair with the joy and sniggers of three-year-olds who just discovered there’s a word for what you do on the potty.
This is predictable and not at all upsetting, because if these people had any political sophistication and understanding of history, they wouldn’t support a party that is more fully behind the full-on communism that has killed a hundred million human beings in the 20th century and bids fair to at least an attempt to continue its work in the twenty-first.
...All they’re really doing is signaling their membership in the “tribe.”
...This worries me because it tells me just how far from reality their mental processes have gone, particularly their image of us.
...the problem is that the Left believes a lot of things about us that spectacularly aren’t so.
They believe we’re all religiously conservative.
They believe we all live in small southern towns and dropped out without a high school diploma.
They believe we are all violently anti-gay, believe men should command women, are all white supremacists, etc., etc., etc.
...This illusion of the Left is necessitated by the fact they have elevated Marxist credo to a messianic religion.
They believe it as one believes revealed truth, with no doubt and no thought. (If they thought, they wouldn’t believe it.)
And in believing it, they think that, of course, anyone who opposes them must be evil.
...The Left doesn’t get the desperation, or the degree of desperation most of us feel.
Being as innocent of economics and history as a duck is of astronomy, they don’t get the grave peril the whole country stood in and still stands in.
They don’t understand that the world is not one of unicorns and rainbows.
Their pig ignorance of the world and their smug and stupid imagined superiority over the rest of us don’t allow them to know what they’re doing.
And what they’re doing is tap dancing on a powder keg and calling for more candles to properly illuminate the series."

"The definition of utter failure for a public school system might be: When 30 + percent of the population of the most successful capitalist nation in the history of the universe thinks trying socialism might be a good idea."
And from comments:
Brad Statham---"Actually, it's a sign of the astounding success of the education system.
In the early 20th century, Dewey posited that the education system should stop teaching the "three R's" and instead be the instrument of social reform.
He convinced his fellow progressives to alter education.
They succeeded.
The modern education system is no longer designed to teach the basics but to indoctrinate the up and coming voters in proper socialist ideology.
They have succeeded."

That growth also comes while placing tariffs on China and Europe to restructure trade for the long-term good of the US economy.
New hires are also soaring. In December and January, the US added more than 600,000 jobs in 60 days.
