As I’ve mentioned before, the president has an uncanny ability to make other people destroy themselves.

- In Trump World, thousands of smiling patriots of every race and religion were waving flags, enjoying a parade, and listening to a stirring non-partisan speech by their president.
- In Left World? Protestors burned flags. They chanted “America was never great.” Leftist commentators, politicians and celebrities expressed a vision of this unique and blessed country best encapsulated in an hysterical tweet from filmmaker Joss Whedon: “We have a racist, fascist president who’s using armed thugs in law enforcement & illegal militias to keep us cowed & hopeless & he’ll take the 2020 election by armed force & blatant, treasonous criminality & that’s us now, we’re the country with concentration camps so happy 4th.”

"Scott Johnson of Powerline stays on the curious, nefarious and possibly deviously criminal case of Rep. Ihlan Omar (D-MN).
This is Scott’s eighth post in his Loose Threads In the Curious Case series.
In this post Scott chastises the Washington Post for covering for Omar — which is what the Minneapolis Star Tribune has been doing for years.
Scott has another Omar series, From the Mixed Up Files of Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Here’s a post where he questions a Strib editor.
This June 12 post is an example of Scott’s own sleuthing.
He is starting to get traction from other critical other media. So stay tuned.

In his quick reply he seemed to be stifling a chuckle.
He said:
He said:
“I think that’s — no. I think I can answer that — no. I don’t have to put a qualifier on that.“There is a geothermal area at the very north end….That’s the coastal geothermal area where there’s a — very large energy production going on where they pump water into the ground to harness heat from the rock. But if they had had something to do with this, we would have expected the activity to maybe start much closer to the geothermal area and then emanate from there.“But again, the reason we have a geothermal field there is in part due to the active tectonics. It’s due to the ongoing geological deformation. So in that particular area the crust is being thinned and pulled apart so heat can easily rise from the interior of the earth, and we are able to harness that for electricity production.”

Why do perfectly intelligent people believe in Climate Change?
Why do perfectly intelligent people believe in Climate Change?: Andy Edmonds, PhD
"The operative word in this somewhat leading question is “believe”.
Global warming is a belief system with all the characteristics of a religion.
Look at how non-believers are vilified.
Look at how we are told we must make sacrifices to the god of global warming; to sacrifice little old ladies through their unaffordable heating bills; to sacrifice our countryside to windmills and solar farms; to sacrifice our cars and our mobility.
How did we get to this point in our supposedly rational age?
The answer, I believe, lies in the history of ideas themselves.
To grossly, but unavoidably, oversimplify things, the argument is as follows:
One of the major purposes of religion is to explain the seemingly random events that occur to us as individuals and societies.
The demise of Christianity in the West has led to, or was caused by, a rise in scientific rationalism.
...The success of scientific rationalism has spawned political and social ideas that ape the promise of predictability and explainability that Science promises in the physical world.

Toilet paper is getting less sustainable, researchers warn | Environment | The Guardian:
"Toilet paper – the one product that the majority of us use just once and flush away – is becoming less sustainable, according to research.
Analysis from Ethical Consumer magazine found that major brands were using less recycled paper than in 2011, while only five of the nine major supermarkets (the Co-op, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose) offered an own-brand recycled toilet paper.
The large-scale use of virgin paper contributes to unnecessary deforestation..."

Ted Cruz Gives Colin Kaepernick A History Lesson — Explains Why His Frederick Douglass Quote Is Misleading | The Daily Caller:
Accordingly, Douglass stated that despite portraying a “dark picture” of America he did not “despair of this country.” Rather, he was optimistic about the inevitable downfall of slavery.
“I, therefore, leave off where I began, with hope,” Douglass said. “While drawing encouragement from ‘the Declaration of Independence,’ the great principles it contains, and the genius of American Institutions, my spirit is also cheered by the obvious tendencies of the age.”

Kurt Schlichter----The Liberal War On You
The Liberal War On You
"We are witnessing the death of the liberal political machine that the elite has operated since the end of World War II, and everything that it is doing to conservatives right now – the censorship, the threats, the intimidation, the violence – is proof that it is dying.
These are not the acts of an ideology in ascendance but rather of a scurrilous political paradigm in precipitous decline.
And it’s only going to get worse as those losing their grip on political and cultural power desperately try to hold onto it in the face of our populist revolt.
Be prepared.
It’s going to get uglier.
Our would-be masters see the stakes – their power, prestige and position – and that’s why there is nothing they won’t do, no alleged principle they won’t upend, no bogus value they won’t abandon, to put off the reckoning that their greed and incompetence have brought upon them.
It’s not just happening here in America.
It’s happening all over the world – in places like Australia, Hungary, the UK, Brazil, and Italy, uppity citizens have proclaimed that enough is enough, that they want to have a say in their own future..."

'Radical' historian Blainey challenges climate-change orthodoxy
"Australia’s best-known historian, Professor Geoffrey Blainey, has challenged the idea that the current level of climate change is either unique or largely the result of human behaviour.
While agreeing the Earth was experiencing a warming period which had been under way for several decades, he said this in no way compared with much greater climate change in human history.
...He said human behaviour “may be part” of the reason for current global warming.
However, he said this did not explain how or why the climate had changed more dramatically in the past.
...He added that ice-core samples from Antarctica had shown that as recently as 1173AD - the time of Francis of Assisi - had marked the start of a “horrible” 39-year drought.
“You have to be very careful that you’ve got good explanations for the past as well as for the present,” he said, in relation to climate change..."

Trump’s Response To Condition Of Migrant Detention Centers: ‘Tell Them Not To Come’ | The Daily Caller:
The president said it’s not fair for a legal immigrant to wait “seven or eight” years for citizenship while an illegal alien is able to “walk in” and be allowed to remain in the U.S. He then said “thousands and thousands” of illegal migrants would soon be deported — and that the process has already begun.
