"Cheers and cries of pure joy erupted as the judge handed down the ruling in the world's first ever climate liability suit.
886 Dutch citizens, including teachers, entrepreneurs, grandparents and students united to sue their government for its inaction on climate change. In a decision likely to reverberate across the world, the court ordered the state to reduce emissions by 25% within 5 years to protect its citizens from climate change.
A HUGE congratulations to all involved, including Urgenda, the group that brought the suit on behalf of the citizens."

25 common sense truths that you’re no longer supposed to say

25 common sense truths that you’re no longer supposed to say
"America is turning into such an intolerant, victim-centered, outrage-based, politically correct, that joke isn’t funny, how dare you hold an opposite opinion-centered culture, that a lot of people are afraid to tell you the truth anymore.
It’s easier for people to sometimes just keep their heads down and hope that the outrage mob will pick another victim.
But, unfortunately, when people become afraid to speak the truth, common sense can die in the darkness because everyone is caught up in saying what we’re “supposed to” believe instead.
1) All lives matter.
2) People wearing MAGA hats are risking far more to advance free speech and tolerance than most college professors do today.
3) Racism still exists, but it isn’t a serious impediment to anyone’s success in America like it used to be several decades ago.
4) Women make less money than men because they prefer less stressful work and take much more time off to raise kids.
5) You can’t be a good American if you don’t speak English..."

"The little girl wasn't doing anything wrong," Police Chief Hayden said.
"She was with family when this occurred. Shots rang out. Not sure what particular fight that was going on when shots rang out."
"We just need help from the citizens to solve this," he said.
A former firefighter, Mark Vasquez, told KMOV...He found her unresponsive with a wound to her abdomen, he said.
"You could see the life leaving her," Vasquez said, holding back tears..."

MSNBC Calls Republican's Belief in Only Two Genders 'Incendiary'

MSNBC Calls Republican's Belief in Only Two Genders 'Incendiary'
"MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing referred to a Louisiana Republican's belief that there are only two genders as "incendiary" on Friday.
..."We've got an important question now," Jansing told viewers.
"What does it mean to be a mainstream Republican? It is the question that some Republicans have been asking in the age of Donald Trump, and increasingly, it seems the answer might be to make incendiary comments about women and members of the LGBT community."
"In Louisiana, the Republican candidate for governor, Ralph Abraham, is out with a new TV ad this week making incendiary comments about gender," she added.
Rep. Ralph Abrahama (R., La.), who is seeking the GOP nomination
to challenge Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D.), released a TV ad where he laid out a series of his conservative positions, among them his medical assertion there are only two genders.
"Here's the truth," he said. "Life begins at conception.
Government is too big.
Our taxes are too high.
And our car insurance is too expensive.
President Trump is doing a great job.
Facts matter more than feelings.
The Second Amendment is self-explanatory.
And as a doctor, I can assure you there are only two genders."

Ditch cars to meet climate change targets, say MPsBy Roger Harrabin
BBC environment analyst
22 August 2019

People will have to get out of their cars if the UK is to meet its climate change targets, MPs say.
The Science and Technology Select Committee says technology alone cannot solve the problem of greenhouse gas emissions from transport.
It says the government cannot achieve sufficient emissions cuts by swapping existing vehicles for cleaner versions.
The government said it would consider the committee’s findings.
In its report, the committee said: “In the long-term, widespread personal vehicle ownership does not appear to be compatible with significant decarbonisation.”
It echoes a report from an Oxford-based group of academics who warned that even electric cars produce pollution through their tyres and brakes.

South Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham criticized Democrats for their across-the-board opposition to immigration proposals by the Trump administration.
“Democrats can’t have it both ways,” the lawmaker tweeted Thursday. “They object to immigrant family separation because minors can only be held by [the Department of Homeland Security] for 20 days. But when [President Donald] Trump tries to keep families together for a period of time to adjudicate claims, they also object.”

College Prez: Universities Churning Out Degrees in Opinions Rather than Truth | Intellectual Takeout
"You may recall that a few years ago, the president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Dr. Everett Piper, bluntly informed students that his school was not a day care, but a university.
See the source imageDr. Piper’s words made waves because they were some of the first to acknowledge the growing epidemic of coddled victimhood on college campuses.
Dr. Piper recently released a book on the same subject, expanding upon the day care mentality which seems to have overflowed from college campuses and into the rest of society.
In particular, Dr. Piper notes that the current generation’s approach to truth is a main reason we no longer have rational and reasoned debate and discussion.
Instead of humbly searching for and receiving truth, Dr. Piper observes that many millennials believe that their own opinions are “the final standard for what is ‘right.’..."

The Morning Briefing: Granny Maojackets' Emails Are Back!

The Morning Briefing: Granny Maojackets' Emails Are Back!
"Rando Friday
...rather about Granny's emails:
August in Washington can be the political equivalent of an elephant graveyard: One good rain can wash away the dirt and expose the bones of scandals past.
And this August did not disappoint. Thanks to the relentless investigative work of Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), we are learning that the Hillary Clinton email case may not really be settled.
A staff memo updating the two senators’ long-running probe discloses that the FBI — the version run in 2016 by the now-disgraced and fired James Comey, Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok — failed to pursue access to “highly classified” evidence that could have resolved important questions.
See the source imageWhile I don't like to disparage law enforcement, the FBI is a federal bureaucracy and the fact that an incompetent, hyperpartisan slacker like James Comey could rise to the top just confirms all of the bad things I think about the government.
Many might question why it's even relevant to keep talking about this.
Well, one reason is that Hillary still does.
Whenever given an opportunity, Hillary loves to try and delegitimize President Trump's victory over her.
As the media loves doing the same, they fawn over everything she says..."

Do As I Say, Not As I Do | Power Line

Do As I Say, Not As I Do | Power Line
"...We see this dynamic again and again in relations between the developed and underdeveloped world.
Poor countries want to get richer, and they can only do so by developing their resources and consuming energy.
Wealthier nations both hector and bribe them, but they–in particular, their elites–have no interest in moderating their own lifestyles.
The same dynamic exists between Western liberal elites and ordinary citizens of their countries.
Like Brazilians, Indians and others in developing countries, most Americans have figured out that when Obama said, “At a certain point you’ve made enough money,” he was talking about you, not him.
And, as Glenn Reynolds wrote, when Obama said–just last year!–“There’s only so big a house you can have,” he meant you.
Not him.
In short, most people have caught on to the fact that fraud is the essence of liberalism, and in this regard, the average American is in much the same position as the average Brazilian..."

The war on cops imperils us all

The war on cops imperils us all
"Even before the firing of Officer Daniel Pantaleo, there were signs on the street that cops are backing off — and who can blame them?
Image result for war on copsUnder Mayor Bill de Blasio — and the city’s increasingly progressive district attorneys — they feel unloved and under siege.
The street no longer fears the NYPD, and the disrespect of the summer’s cop dousings inevitably turned violent last weekend when three officers were injured in Brooklyn as people hurled heavy objects rather than water.
Now New Yorkers are sharing anecdotes like this:
On Aug. 14 at about 9 p.m. in the West Village, a woman is punched in the face by a stranger as she steps outside her apartment to give her dog a potty break.
The injury is mild but the addled perp remains across the street, so the victim’s husband calls the cops.
A squad car arrives but the officers decline to make an arrest, despite the presence of several witnesses.
“When someone is calling and they need help, officers are going to run in,” Joseph Imperatrice, founder of pro-cop group Blue Lives Matter, said Wednesday.
“But the days of proactive policing are completely done.”..."

This is how they silence US!-----Women For Trump Ad Pulled From Facebook for Policy Violation

Women For Trump Ad Pulled From Facebook for Policy Violation
"Earlier this week, Facebook took down several Trump campaign ads over alleged violations of their advertising policies
They must have been terrible, horribly offensive ads, right?
Heck, even I thought they must have been tasteless ads that were reasonably taken down... and then I saw one of the offensive ads:
That's right. The above ad violated Facebook's advertising policies.
What did this and other offensive Trump ads do that was so terrible?
They targeted women.
The website Popular Information explains:
Facebook's advertising guidelines list thirty varieties of prohibited content. Number twelve on the list prohibits ads that target "personal attributes." Facebook says ads must not include "direct or indirect assertions or implications about a person’s... gender identity."
Trump's ad is clearly prohibited, but Facebook allowed it to run until an inquiry by Popular Information. "We've notified the campaign that the ads violate policy. They can’t continue to run unless fixed," a Facebook spokesperson told Popular Information.
According to a report from The Hill, it was Popular Information’s inquiry to Facebook that got the ad taken down.
A spokesperson for Facebook told The Hill, “We've notified the campaign that the ads violate policy.
They cannot continue to run unless fixed.”
So, let me get this straight.
The Trump campaign runs an ad that says "The Women for Trump Coalition needs the support of strong Women like you" and somehow that’s so offensive that it violates Facebook’s ad policies?..."
