Scientific Societies Remove BYU Job Posting After LGBT Uproar
"LGBT activists have weaponized two scientific societies to cut off a major Mormon university from their international community of scientists.
The American Geophysical Union (AGU) in Washington, D.C., and the Geological Society of America (GSA) in Colorado pulled job ads from Brigham Young University (BYU) after facing complaints over BYU's Honor Code, which prohibits homosexual conduct among students and staff.
This is unlikely to stop with the AGU and GSA and is likely to lead to blacklisting far more schools than just BYU.

We have been warned!-----A rabbi's warning to U.S. Christians
A rabbi's warning to U.S. Christians-RABBI DANIEL LAPIN
I am certainly not a Churchill.
I am certainly not a Churchill.
I am not even a Revel.
I am having enough trouble just trying to be a Lapin.
But I am issuing a very serious warning about deep consequences, just as they did.
It is a warning about the earliest stages of what could become a cataract of disasters if not resisted now.
During the 1930s, Winston Churchill desperately tried to persuade the English people and their government to see that Hitler meant to end their way of life.
The British ignored Churchill, which gave Hitler nearly 10 years to build up his military forces.
It wasn't until Hitler actually drew blood that the British realized they had a war on their hands.
It turned out to be a far longer and more destructive war than it needed to be had Churchill's early warning been heeded.
In 1983, a brave French writer, Jean-Francois Revel, wrote a book called How Democracies Perish.
In this remarkable volume, he described how communism's aim is world conquest..."

Uncle Sam wants you — and lots of robots — for the US Army
"The US Army is pursuing technology that could replace soldiers’ jobs with machines and robots.
Work ranging from reconnaissance to logistics to close combat may disappear as the military pursues robotics and artificial intelligence to change how it operates and fights.
What are the implications for the soldiers of tomorrow?
How will recruiting and retention need to adapt in the face of such a potentially revolutionary shift in how the force is employed?"

Heating Up Your Car This Winter Could Get You Fined In Massachusetts | The Daily Wire
"As cold as it gets in Massachusetts during the winter, car owners are going to have to resist the urge to warm up their cars before driving – or else they will be fined by the state.
Mass Live reported Thursday that Massachusetts law Chapter 90 Sec. 16A states: “No person shall cause, suffer, allow or permit the unnecessary operation of the engine of a motor vehicle while said vehicle is stopped for a foreseeable period of time in excess of five minutes.”
This means that idling one’s car for more than five minutes “could result in a $100 fine for the first offense, and up to $500 for each subsequent offense,” the outlet reported..."

How Journalists Became Fahrenheit 451–Style 'Firemen' - American Thinker
"The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns. That's a sea change. They literally know nothing." –Barack Obama foreign policy adviser, Ben Rhodes
A week ago James O'Keefe's Project Veritas released a hot mic rant by ABC's Amy Robach lamenting her network's deep-sixing of the Jeffery Epstein saga three years prior.
In watching this video clip and tracking the media response to it I was reminded of a scene in Ray Bradbury's classic 1951 sci-fi novel Fahrenheit 451.
..."Is it true that long ago firemen put fires out instead of going to start them?" a young woman asks fireman Guy Montag. Montag tells her that's a crazy idea. "Strange," she answers. "I heard once that a long time ago houses used to burn by accident and they needed firemen to stop the flames." Montag laughs.
Not too long ago, ambitious journalists, local and national, prided themselves on gathering information, and their editors prided themselves on publishing it.
About 50 or so years ago, however, progressives started to seize control of universities, J-schools included, and newsrooms shifted leftwards with each new graduating class.
By 2016, even major newsrooms had become firehouses.
Their goal was not to report information but to manage it.
In February 2017, MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski unwittingly admitted as much.
Said Brzezinski of President Trump, "He could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that is our job."...

San Francisco And NYC Begin To See The Ugly Side Of Socialism
"San Francisco and NYC retail and restaurant sectors are beginning to see the ugly side of socialism: store closures and layoffs, as their owners cannot keep up with local government mandates that raise the costs of their businesses.
Socialism is in fashion again in America.
At the local level that is, where governments have been passing mandates that tell corporations how to run their businesses.
Like the “Fair Workweek” laws.
These laws require employers to prepare working schedules for their employees ahead of time.
That’s on top of minimum wage mandates, which tells employers how to pay their employees..."

Barack Obama Fired All George W. Bush-Appointed Ambassadors:
Former United States ambassador Marie Yovanovitch testified Friday about her dismay upon being fired by President Donald Trump, but it’s actually quite common for presidents to do so after taking office.
The State Department issued a December 2008 notice to Bush-appointed ambassadors to submit their resignations, effective when President Barack Obama took office in 2009, according to the Washington Post.

How Renewable Energy Models Can Produce Misleading Indications | Our Finite World
"The energy needs of the world’s economy seem to be easy to model.
Energy consumption is measured in a variety of different ways including kilowatt hours, barrels of oil equivalent, British thermal units, kilocalories and joules.
Two types of energy are equivalent if they produce the same number of units of energy, right?
Wind, if scaled up to absurd levels, can provide enough renewable energy for ourselves and a dozen of our neighbors.

Energy consumption is measured in a variety of different ways including kilowatt hours, barrels of oil equivalent, British thermal units, kilocalories and joules.
Two types of energy are equivalent if they produce the same number of units of energy, right?
For example, xkcd’s modeler Randall Munroe explains the benefit of renewable energy in the video below.
He tells us that based on his model, solar, if scaled up to ridiculous levels, can provide enough renewable energy for ourselves and a half-dozen of our neighbors. Wind, if scaled up to absurd levels, can provide enough renewable energy for ourselves and a dozen of our neighbors.
There is a major catch to this analysis, however.
The kinds of energy produced by wind and solar are not the kinds of energy that the economy needs.
The kinds of energy produced by wind and solar are not the kinds of energy that the economy needs.
Wind and solar produce intermittent electricity available only at specific times and places.
What the world economy needs is a variety of different energy types that match the energy requirements of the many devices in place in the world today.
This energy needs to be transported to the right place and saved for the right time of day and the right time of year.
There may even be a need to store this energy from year to year, because of possible droughts.
I think of the situation as being analogous to researchers deciding that it would be helpful or more efficient if humans could change their diets to 100% grass in the next 20 years.
Grass is a form of energy product, but it is not the energy product that humans normally consume.
It doesn’t seem to be toxic to humans in small quantities.
It seems to grow quite well.
Switching to the use of grass for food would seem to be beneficial from a CO2 perspective.
The fact that humans have not evolved to eat grass is similar to the fact that the manufacturing and transport sectors of today’s economy have not developed around the use of intermittent electricity from wind and solar.
- Substituting Grass for Food Might “Work,” but It Would Require Whole New Systems..."

Democrats' impeachment hearing devolves into exchanged 'intimidation' claims - WND:
Perhaps it was because the Democrats' impeachment hearing witness on Friday, fired ambassador Marie Yavonovich, had no first-hand knowledge of any of the impeachment issues and apparently was center stage simply for her ability to complain about the president and insist that relations with Ukraine should have been handled her way.
Maybe it's because the impeachment issue is so boring.

"It really does now look like President Donald J. Trump, and markets are plunging. When might we expect them to recover?
Frankly, I find it hard to care much, even though this is my specialty. The disaster for America and the world has so many aspects that the economic ramifications are way down my list of things to fear.
Still, I guess people want an answer: If the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is never.
Under any circumstances, putting an irresponsible, ignorant man who takes his advice from all the wrong people in charge of the nation with the world’s most important economy would be very bad news. What makes it especially bad right now, however, is the fundamentally fragile state much of the world is still in, eight years after the great financial crisis..."

How to Get Into Harvard Without Good S.A.T. Scores!
How to Get Into Harvard Without Good S.A.T. Scores!--Ann Coulter
"If you’re looking for a shortcut to get your kid into a prestigious college, but your little one doesn’t have high enough cheekbones to claim to be an Indian consider
But America’s elite institutions treat cop-killing -- even merely being the child of cop-killers -- as the equivalent of being a star athlete or getting double-800s on your SATs.
Say, instead of forcing taxpayers to take on the burden of student debt, how about letting the colleges eat their own student loans?"
"If you’re looking for a shortcut to get your kid into a prestigious college, but your little one doesn’t have high enough cheekbones to claim to be an Indian consider
- the petal-strewn path of the newly elected San Francisco district attorney, Chesa Boudin. Chesa’s sparkling credentials are: He is the son of celebrated cop-killers Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert! That was enough to win him admission to Yale, Oxford and Yale Law School. His mother consciously parlayed her way to success by becoming a violent revolutionary... Kathy was part of the Weather Underground brain trust that blew up a Greenwich Village townhouse in 1970, killing three of the radicals...
- Look at David Hogg, rejected from a half-dozen non-elite schools, only to be accepted by Harvard -- all for raising his scrawny little arm in a preposterous one-arm salute after a speech denouncing the National Rifle Association. True, Hogg’s SAT score (1270) was far below that of the average Harvard student (1484). It was even below that of recruited athletes at Harvard (1297). But he had turned himself into a left-wing activist just in the nick of time. Harvard here I come!
- The two “idealists” who raised Chesa Boudin were William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. On account of putting a bomb in the Pentagon, Ayers became a distinguished professor of education and senior university scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago. For praising the Manson family and leading a group of protesters in a little ditty that mocked the government official paralyzed during the "Days of Rage" rampage, Dohrn was made a professor at Northwestern University School of Law.
- Another leftist celebrity, Susan Rosenberg, had conspired to kill cops, blow up buildings and rob a Brinks truck; she was sentenced to 58 years in prison for felony murder and possession of more than 700 pounds of explosives. She was pardoned by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office. A couple years later, Rosenberg was offered a teaching position at Hamilton College. Apart from her fondness for bombs and cop-killing, Rosenberg’s credentials consisted of: a master’s degree in writing from a correspondence course in prison...

"And so I wonder if you could explain to the American people why the legal rights of the whistleblower should prevail in this political setting over those of President Trump, who should ordinarily enjoy a right to confront his accuser," Rosen asked Pelosi.
And Madame Speaker didn't like that very much.
