The Muslim Migrant Attack in St. Louis You Heard Nothing About | Culture

"St. Louis resident Alicia Clarke says she feels as if she has been “failed by the system” and is now “not feeling safe,” and she has good reason to feel this way.
After she was savagely beaten and stabbed by her neighbor, her attacker walked free.
The court considered it decisive that he has an IQ of 49.
He is also a Muslim migrant, which may explain both the reluctance to prosecute him and the scant and incomplete coverage this incident has received.
St. Louis’ KSDK reported Monday that Clarke went out for a run near her home; when she returned, her cell phone was missing.
Tracking it with Find My iPhone to her neighbor’s backyard, she went to get it, and told her neighbor, “I know you did this and I’m calling the police!”
At that point the neighbor, whom KSDK describes only as a “6-foot teen,” attacked her.
“He knocked me down, pulling my hair, kicking,” Clarke recounted. When he finally stopped the attack, Clarke called the police.
But then he returned: “I am on the phone with St. Louis police dispatch,” she said, “making my way to my backdoor, when he comes back with a weapon. He is on top of me. There was blood everywhere. I was literally fighting for my life at that point.”...

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is a despicable woman with no redeeming qualities.
  • During her weekly press conference last Thursday, she said, “Lives are at stake. This is not a time for name-calling or playing politics.”
  • Shortly after it had ended she was criticizing President Trump over his administration’s response to the coronavirus crisis as anemic, opaque, too late and often chaotic.
  • All the while, Pelosi was holding back a House bill to provide funding to fight it.
Speaking with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Monday night, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said, “Look how much politics they want to play. The dirty little secret. We have the coronavirus. We need to fund this. You know what Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker, did?  She withheld the bill last week. You know why? So the DCCC could run ads against seven Republicans.”...

Chief Justice Roberts issues rare rebuke to Schumer's 'dangerous' and 'irresponsible' comments; Trump slams lawmaker, says 'must pay a severe price' | Fox News:

Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts on Wednesday issued a highly unusual and forceful rebuke to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., calling his threatening remarks directed at Associate Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh "irresponsible" and "dangerous" -- prompting Schumer's office to slam Roberts and accuse him of bias.
The extraordinary back-and-forth began hours earlier at a pro-choice rally hosted by the Center for Reproductive Rights, when Schumer ominously singled out President Trump's two Supreme Court picks: "I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price!" Schumer warned. "You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

John Dewar Gleissner's answer to What were the things Soviets were told about the world outside the Iron Curtain? - Quora

John Dewar Gleissner's answer to What were the things Soviets were told about the world outside the Iron Curtain? - Quora
"Soviet citizens were told the Americans were oppressed by the rich and that we did not live any better than Soviet citizens.
President Nixon arranged a cultural exchange whereby ordinary Russians visited the USA and Americans visited Russia.
One Russian lady, a confirmed communist, visited the USA on a cultural exchange and was taken to a modern grocery store/supermarket.
This lady chose which direction the car should drive so that she would get an objective sample of American grocery stores.
She walked into the store, saw abundance she’d never seen in the USSR, and burst out crying.
Some emotional reaction was common when people from communist countries visited American supermarkets for the first time.
Communism always produced shortages of food and provided limited selections; to buy groceries most communists had to stand in lines.
Store shelves were often bare.
When people from communist countries entered our grocery stores, they could tell at a glance that they had been lied to by the communists, that communism did not provide a better life, and that the average American had a better selection of food than any Russian or Soviet citizen.
The superiority of capitalism was made obvious to these visitors in the most elemental, rapid and non-verbal way.
And the communist store clerks were not that friendly, either."

"Many of us are old enough to remember how childhood used to be.

  • Our afternoons were spent outside playing with the neighborhood kids—no adults or cell phones in sight.
  • Sometimes we got hurt, with occasional scraped knees or hurt egos, but we worked it out.
  • We always knew we could go home.
  • We had paper routes, mowed lawns, ran errands, and babysat at ages much earlier than we allow our own kids.

What happened to childhood in just a generation that now prompts neighbors to call the police when they see an eight-year-old walking her dog?...

New Law Expands Cuomo’s Power During Coronavirus Outbreak - WSJ

See the source imageNew Law Expands Cuomo’s Power During Coronavirus Outbreak - WSJ
"ALBANY, N.Y.—Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a law Tuesday that expands his emergency management powers, a move that drew bipartisan criticism but that the Democratic governor said is justified by the current coronavirus outbreak.
...New York law already allows the governor to suspend provisions of any state or local statute that would hinder or delay in coping with a declared disaster.
The new measure broadens the definition of a disaster, from a past occurrence or imminent threat to something that is impending.
The new law specifically added “disease outbreak” to a list of triggering events alongside epidemic, which according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests a wider geographic area.
The measure gives Mr. Cuomo new power to issue directives “necessary to cope with” a broad list of potential disasters..."

Former Biden Adviser on Sanders: ‘We Cannot Let This Man Be the Nominee’

Democrats must not select Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) as their presidential nominee, warned Moe Vela, former senior adviser to Vice President Joe Biden and president of the Vela Group, on Monday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with host Rebecca Mansour and special guest host John Hayward.
“[Bernie Sanders] will be disastrous for down-ballot races,” said Vela of a possible Democrat presidential nomination for the Vermont senator. “From sheriff to school board to mayor, all the way up to the U.S. Senate and the House, he will be absolutely disastrous for down-ballot Democratic races.”

Is Manhattan About To Get Drowned By The Sea? — Manhattan Contrarian

Is Manhattan About To Get Drowned By The Sea? — Manhattan Contrarian
"Nothing, and I mean nothing, leads so quickly to the loss of all critical faculties as global warming hysteria.
One key claim in the maelstrom of global warming hype is the assertion that sea level will shortly rise and swamp coastal cities.
I would put this claim in the category of total BS.

For more detail than you would ever want to know on that subject, go to this link.
But for today’s purposes, assume that there is something to the claim of a big impending sea level rise.
I live here in Manhattan, specifically Lower Manhattan (the southern part of the island).
If sea level is about to rise and swamp coastal cities, Manhattan looks like ground zero, and Lower Manhattan in particular.
...Belief in anthropogenic global warming and its associated natural disasters like sea level rise is an essential component of Manhattan groupthink.
Therefore, it is clear that our politicians must “do something” about the impending calamity.
But what?
We’re not about to jack up some thousands of buildings by 30 or 50 feet each, even assuming that somebody could figure out how to do that.
Thankfully, our politicians have come up with the answer, namely, the “East Side Coastal Resiliency Project” (ESCRP).
Image result for “East Side Coastal Resiliency Project”...According to the Villager article at the link, the proposed ESCRP generated quite a bit of controversy in the affected community.
Not that anyone expressed doubt about the premise that the sea is about to rise up from man-made global warming.
Instead, most of the controversy was about losing the park for three plus years, plus the loss of some hundreds of trees that are about to be buried in dirt.
But even if everyone accepted the premise of imminent massive sea level rise, you would think that someone would have asked the next obvious question, which is, how does it help us to raise the grade of three miles of the relevant shoreline while leaving the grade of the other twelve miles the same?
After all, the sea level is the same on the Lower West Side as it is on the Lower East Side..."

"By Any Means Necessary" MSU Must Address Climate Change, Demands Panel
"A panel demanded MSU to phase out fossil fuels, stated need for collective action, and called on the student government to act.
...Answering how to solve climate change, “something really radical has to happen,” said a JMC professor towards the end of the event.
She clarified emphasizing a peaceful “civic uprising.”
...Outlined by several panelists was the idea of capitalism being against climate change. They cited the existence of fossil fuel industries and their externalities as the side effects of capitalism.
...Going forward, the panel called said ending “university's investment in fossil fuels” was a goal. They said it means phasing out the use of energy derived from fossil fuels on campus.
...A member of the JMC Student Senate, speaking as a panelist, made a number of claims to the audience, including “we don’t even have clean water. You see your water bottle, wait an hour, it has lead in it.”
...The panelist went further, saying students must “hold the university accountable by any means necessary.”
Both professors on the panel shook their heads in agreement following this comment.
Elaborating on the comment, he suggested “we won’t have a college to study from if we don’t act. Honestly, cost isn’t the question we should be asking.”

An audience member called out former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg for “pushing for more gun control” when he has “an armed security detail.”
“How do you justify pushing for more gun control when you have an armed security detail that’s likely equipped with the same firearms and magazines that you seek to ban the common citizen from owning?” the man asked at a Monday evening Fox News town hall in Manassas, Virginia. “Does your life matter more than mine or my family’s or these peoples’?”
