Editorial: Lawmakers must fight gov's power grab
"Michigan is now operating under emergency orders that have an extremely shaky legal foundation. The crisis powers granted to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak expired at midnight Thursday, and when she failed to reach a deal with lawmakers to extend them, she set aside the legislative branch and unilaterally imposed the extension.
At the end of 28 days, the law specifically allows for an extension of those powers, but only with the approval of both chambers of the Legislature.

- That’s a stunning power grab. Whitmer is declaring she can run the state as she pleases, for as long as she pleases, with no oversight or checks on her power.
At the end of 28 days, the law specifically allows for an extension of those powers, but only with the approval of both chambers of the Legislature.
Lawmakers previously granted a 23-day extension.
The language of the bill is clear.
...From the beginning of her tenure, Whitmer has show disdain for both the law and regular-order governing, looking for every loophole to avoid dealing with the Legislature.
This time, she’s taken the state to a very dangerous place..."

28 Million Reasons Not to Trust a Mail-in Election - AMAC - The Association of Mature American Citizens
"“No idea.”
That was the only answer state and local officials had.
When a federal elections commission started asking questions, not one person had any explanation for the 28.3 million mail-in ballots that have gone missing since 2012.
As far as they’re concerned, one in five absentee votes just vanished.
No one knows if it’s fraud, system failure, general ineptitude, or a combination of all three.
What we do know is that Democrats want us to trust this same process — on a national scale — this November.
Thank you, but no thank you.
Four elections.
At least seven million missing votes each.
By way of comparison, Mark Hemingway at RealClearInvestigations points out, Hillary Clinton won the 2016 popular vote by 2.8 million.
“But nearly six million unaccounted mail-in ballots were never counted in 2016 — more than twice her margin in the popular vote.”...

America Now 'The King of Ventilators' as Donald Trump Beats Demand:
Trump was right. As of April 28, FEMA, HHS, and the private sector have coordinated the delivery of 10,653 ventilators around the country, according to the White House, with many more new units flowing into the national stockpile.
“President Trump is procuring 100,000 ventilators in 100 days, three times more than the U.S. normally produces in a year,” a White House aide told Breitbart News. “No one else but the President could have facilitated the public-private partnership to do this, and under his leadership, we are truly experiencing an effective whole-of-America response.”

Scientists Who Didn't Predict A Single Thing Accurately For Last Two Months Confident They Know What The Weather Is Going To Be Like In 100 Years | The Babylon Bee
"WORLD—Authorities in the scientific community who touted faulty COVID-19 models are "pretty confident" they know what the weather is going to be like in 100 years, sources confirmed Wednesday.
"Yes, we were off by a factor of about 1 billion in our predictions for what happened over the last few months, but trust us: we know exactly what the climate is going to be like in a century," said leading scientific authority Dr. Garth Wendybrook at a press conference.

Nolte: 8 Ways Joe Biden Is Acting like a Man Guilty of Sexual Assault:
On top of the growing mountain of evidence, nothing points to Joe Biden being guilty of a brutal and violent sexual assault more than his own suspicious behavior.
Tara Reade has credibly accused Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993. At the time, she was working in Biden’s U.S. Senate office and alleges he pinned her against a wall and then went under her skirt to stick his fingers in her vagina. She says she filed an official complaint and was fired in retaliation.

Secondly, the fact that these guys were silenced, not by open debate and criticism, but by the ad hoc and capricious application of "community standards" on what is supposed to be an open platform, basically just enhances people's curiosity.

‘Journalism’ professors demand media censor Trump; show why public doesn’t trust journalists –Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs"
"...I refer to the 531 individuals who signed a recent letter to the chiefs of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC demanding “that the live, unedited airing of the Daily White House Task Force Briefings stop.”
Why?
“Because Donald Trump uses them as a platform for misinformation and disinformation about COVID-19, they have become a serious public health hazard—a matter of life and death for viewers who cannot easily identify his falsehoods, lies, and exaggerations.”
But it’s not only Trump’s daily coronavirus briefings these people demand be censored:
“We ask that no speech, rally, or press conference involving the president be covered live anymore. The risk of passing along bad information and harmful advice is too great.
...That is a demand for censorship, pure and simple.
Damn the First Amendment.
Damn the people’s right to know.
Damn transparency and accountability in government.
Journalists these professors trained will decide what the rest of us will be told about Trump.
This is elitism of the worst sort.
Curiously, Medium, which published the letter, headlined it as the product of “professors of communications, journalism, and media studies.”...

Oh Dear, Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie Touches the Third Rail – Reveals DC’s Biggest Secret… | The Last Refuge
"With congress saying they will not be returning to work next week, it appears Kentucky representative Thomas Massie has decided to use the opportunity to expose Washington DC’s biggest secret.
Something 99% of American voters do not understand:
The last item of legislation written by congress was sometime around the mid 1990’s. Modern legislation is sub-contracted to K-Street.
Lobbyists write the laws; congress sells the laws; lobbyists then pay congress commissions for passing their laws.

According to a lawsuit filed by New Mexico’s attorney general, Google is collecting data on students’ personal locations, websites they have visited, YouTube videos they watched and their voice recordings. Google is able to do this because more than half of the nation’s public schools — and more than 80 million people around the world — use free Google education apps like Gmail and Google Docs. More than 25 million students and teachers also use Chromebooks.

Never waste 'a crisis': IMF chief sees coronavirus as 'great opportunity' to create a green economy
"Environmentalists have an unprecedented chance to turn their policy hopes into a global reality during the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, according to the head of the International Monetary Fund.
“You know, a crisis [is] never to be missed as an opportunity to do better,” IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva said Monday.
Georgieva, a Bulgarian economist who took over as IMF chief last year, has a prominent role influencing how countries soften the economic blows delivered by the pandemic.
She is also working on strategies to “jump-start economies” after the contagion passes.

New Evidence: FBI Wanted to Drop Case Against Michael Flynn Until Peter Strzok Intervened
New Evidence: FBI Wanted to Drop Case Against Michael Flynn Until Peter Strzok Intervened:
New documents suggest that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had drafted a document dropping the case against incoming National Security Advisor Gen. Michael Flynn (Ret.) — until agent Peter Strzok intervened.
The documents are emerging as the result of efforts by Flynn’s defense team to obtain exculpatory information from the prosecution to which they are legally entitled. Flynn’s former lawyers at Covington and Burling, who encouraged him to accept a plea deal with the Department of Justice, neglected to turn over thousands of pages of documents to the new team. It is not clear whether the FBI files are also among the Covington documents.

Dems Snuck A $15 Minimum Wage Into The CARES Act — And We’ll All Pay The Price – Issues & Insights
"Buried in a story about the overly generous unemployment “bonus” that Democrats added to the CARES Act is the reason why they insisted on it in the first place — and why it will drag down the recovery once the lockdown ends.
While lawmakers were hammering out the massive $2 trillion bill, a key focus of which was to keep workers connected to their jobs through a loan guarantee program — Democrats insisted on a huge increase in unemployment benefits.
The result was a $600 a week bonus.
New York Sen. Chuck Schumer was right to call this “unemployment on steroids.”
Well, guess what?
“The $600 payment aligns with working full time at $15 an hour – the minimum-wage level many Democrats in Congress support,” notes the Wall Street Journal.
The Journal reports that – thanks to this bonus – workers will get an average of $978 in unemployment benefits.
What’s more, “Labor Department statistics show half of full-time workers earned $957 or less each week in the first quarter of 2020.”
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham had it exactly right when he said that:
“You’re literally incentivizing taking people out of the workforce at a time when we need critical infrastructure supplied with workers. If this is not a drafting error, then it’s the worst idea I’ve seen in a long time.”

In America, Democratic Governors and Mayors tell you to remain in lockdown except for essential journeys.
This as his wife, Michelle, was instructing the common folk, "We urge you to stay home except if you need essential healthcare, food, supplies to to go to your essential work."
Notice how they have special rules for you, but not for themselves.
Why do I stumble across examples of glaring Democratic double standards and hypocrisy several times a day?
People in power abuse their power.

They order you under threat of arrest.
But we have seen this does not apply to the Democrat elite.

- Laurie Lightfoot, the mayor of Chicago, was caught getting her hair done after the city had ordered the closedown of salons and beauty parlors.
- When pulled up about it she protested arrogantly, "I'm the public face of this city. I appear on television. I am in the public eye."
