Miscalculating Risk: Confusing Scary With Dangerous | RealClearPolitics
"The coronavirus kills...But is it the most dangerous?
Or even close?
There are four ways to categorize any given reality.
Image result for distinguish between fear and danger. It can be scary but not dangerous, scary and dangerous, dangerous but not scary, or not dangerous and not scary.
...To date, the virus has tragically killed nearly 100,000 people in the United States...
But on a scale of harmless to extremely dangerous, it would still fall into the category of slightly to mildly dangerous for most people, excluding the elderly and those with preexisting medical conditions.
In comparison, many have no idea that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing around 650,000 people every year, 54,000 per month...
This qualifies as extremely dangerous.
...It’s critical to be able to distinguish between fear and danger.
Fear is an emotion, it’s the risk that we perceive.
As an emotion, it is often blind to the facts.
...Imagine if an insurance actuary was so scared of something that she graded it 1,000 times riskier than the data showed.
This might be a career-ending mistake.
This is exactly what people have done regarding COVID-19: making decisions on fear and not data...

It’s Time To Bring Grandma-Killing Governors To Justice - DC Dirty Laundry

It’s Time To Bring Grandma-Killing Governors To Justice - DC Dirty Laundry
"In April, Governor Gretchen Whitmer posed and primped on The Daily Show in a “That Woman from Michigan” t-shirt as a narcissistic slam at President Trump.
That same month, that woman from Michigan issued an executive order, that the Daily Show and SNL didn’t mention, “protecting” residents of long-term care facilities, by forcing nursing homes to admit patients infected with the coronavirus.
Her order dictated that a “long-term care facility must not prohibit admission or readmission of a resident based on COVID-19 testing requirements or results” and told hospitals to discharge coronavirus patients back to the homes they had come from.
Some nursing homes were designated as ‘hubs’ and coronavirus patients were transferred into them, even though these facilities had uninfected residents...

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Questions Whether Worship Is Essential

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz told reporters this weekend it is not clear that worship constitutes something essential, challenging President Trump’s assertion it is.
“I think the case that the president is making and that may be up for debate in this country of deeming houses of worship essential, essential services and that’s one that we take into consideration,” the Democrat governor said during an hour-long briefing on opening up religious services during the coronavirus lockdown.

The Revolting Inquisition of K.T. McFarland | Ricochet

The Revolting Inquisition of K.T. McFarland | Ricochet
"In her brief but agonizing stint as Deputy National Security Advisor under General Michael Flynn, K.T. McFarland played a key role in helping the new Trump team get organized following the 2016 election.
...In her new book, McFarland takes us back to the interviews that the FBI conducted with her.
Image result for K.T. McFarlandTheir actions were shocking and, as I said in my original post, could have destroyed her life.
...The FBI ended up scheduling three more interviews with her over several hours. Each time when she asked about her status, they insisted she was only a fact witness.
She realized fairly early in the process they were setting her up for a perjury trap.
Here’s her description of the methodology:
As with the three previous FBI interviews, I found the challenge was in following their format. They would ask rapid fire questions, switching back and forth from one topic to another, and one time period to another, and then circle back to the same questions again, but worded slightly differently. I forced myself to remain on high alert for hours on end, knowing that one slip-up might prove fatal...
...Once they charged Gen. Flynn, they lost interest in her. She was never accused of anything.
* * * *
Keep in mind that McFarland was no novice to the workings of government; she had served in four administrations.
...One concluding statement she made:
If anything, I am now more convinced than ever that what we are experiencing now is not just a group of Democrats, Never-Trumpers, and the liberal media who have made common cause in their efforts to get rid of Trump. It is an entrenched self-perpetuating Washington Establishment locked into a battle with the American people over who is sovereign. Is it the American electorate who voted for populism and nationalism with Donald Trump as their flagbearer? Or does the ultimate power rest in the hands of the entrenched Administrative State and the governing class who are using the system to get rid of Trump and everything he stands for?
It is time, against at all levels of government, for us to take back our country!"
