  • Governor points finger at legislators — but they rejected her cut
"Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has made claims that she tried to fix Michigan’s infrastructure problems, including strengthening the thousands of dams in the state.
To make the case, at a Lansing press conference, the governor pointed to a 45-cent per gallon gas tax increase she proposed in 2019.
But that proposal would not have directed any additional resources to dam repairs.
In fact, Whitmer’s first executive budget proposed reduced annual funding for a state dam repair fund, even as her budget presumed that the gas tax hike would be passed and boost revenue available for such projects.
Dam maintenance has become a national story since the Edenville and Sanford dams failed, causing history-making floods in Midland and Gladwin counties...

Good News for Trump from … Team Obama? | Power Line
"There are quite a few raised eyebrows about today’s story in Politico with the headline “The General Election Scenario That Democrats Are Dreading.”
The story is built around the economic forecast of the former chief economist for President Obama, Jason Furman, who is now a professor at Harvard.
...so when he has an optimistic view of how the economy is going to do over the summer and into the fall, you can understand why it is giving Democrats heartburn.
From the article:
In early April, Jason Furman, a top economist in the Obama administration and now a professor at Harvard, was speaking via Zoom to a large bipartisan group of top officials from both parties.
The economy had just been shut down, unemployment was spiking and some policymakers were predicting an era worse than the Great Depression.
The economic carnage seemed likely to doom President Donald Trump’s chances at reelection…
Furman, tapped to give the opening presentation, looked into his screen of poorly lit boxes of frightened wonks and made a startling claim. “We are about to see the best economic data we’ve seen in the history of this country,” he said…
...Furman’s counterintuitive pitch has caused some Democrats, especially Obama alumni, around Washington to panic. “...

Bloomberg aide slammed for using photo from another day to claim Trump golfed on Memorial Day | Fox News
"Tim O’Brien, a former campaign aide for Mike Bloomberg and a Bloomberg opinion writer, is coming under fire for posting side-by-side photos of Joe Biden at a war memorial on Memorial Day and a photo of President Trump golfing on a different day with the caption, “Different approaches to Memorial Day.”...
...Trump played golf over the weekend for the first time since early March, but spent Monday honoring service members at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia and Fort McHenry in Baltimore.
"Together, we will vanquish the virus, and America will rise from this crisis to new, and even greater heights," Trump said at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. “As our brave warriors have shown us from the nation’s earliest days – in America, we are the captains of our own fate.
"No obstacle, no challenge, and no threat is a match for the sheer determination of the American people," Trump continued. "This towering spirit permeates every inch of the hallowed soil beneath our feet."
“This is a lie and you know it,” tweeted National Republican Senatorial Committee senior advisor Matt Whitlock of the misleading side-by-side.
“Truly is remarkable how one can be golfing at the same time holding a memorial in Arlington,” tweeted another user, along with a video of Trump at the cemetery.
The Students for Trump page called O’Brien the “CEO of fake news.”

"WASHINGTON — President Trump on Tuesday will announce a prescription plan drastically reducing the cost of insulin for American seniors who rely on Medicare.

Horowitz: The CDC confirms remarkably low coronavirus death rate. Where is the media? - TheBlaze:

Image result for flickr commons images cdc The CDC just came out with a report that should be earth-shattering to the narrative of the political class, yet it will go into the thick pile of vital data and information about the virus that is not getting out to the public. For the first time, the CDC has attempted to offer a real estimate of the overall death rate for COVID-19, and under its most likely scenario, the number is 0.26%. Officials estimate a 0.4% fatality rate among those who are symptomatic and project a 35% rate of asymptomatic cases among those infected, which drops the overall infection fatality rate (IFR) to just 0.26% — almost exactly where Stanford researchers pegged it a month ago.

CDC now says 'it may be possible' for COVID-19 to spread on surfaces - Washington Times

Image result for make up your mindCDC now says 'it may be possible' for COVID-19 to spread on surfaces - Washington Times
"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has changed its guidance once again, acknowledging new information on its website was confusing about the low risk of contracting COVID-19 from contaminated surfaces.
The CDC is now saying coronavirus can “possibly” be spread on surfaces and objects, though the virus is mainly transmitted between people.
This is not the first time the nation’s premier public health agency has had to reverse course on information related to the coronavirus pandemic, including the agency’s evolving guidance on whether a face mask should or should not be worn in public.
  • The CDC initially changed the information about transmission risk from surfaces Wednesday, saying the novel coronavirus “does not spread easily” by “touching surfaces or objects.”
  • In March, CDC warned “it may be possible” to spread the coronavirus on surfaces and objects.
  • Two months later, the CDC updated its website advisory to classify surfaces as a medium by which the virus does not easily spread...

Study: Lockdown “Will Destroy at Least Seven Times More Years of Human Life” Than it Saves – Summit News

Image result for lockdown metal consequencesStudy: Lockdown “Will Destroy at Least Seven Times More Years of Human Life” Than it Saves – Summit News:
  • “Likely more than 90 times greater.”
"A study has found that the “stay at home” lockdown order in the United States will “destroy at least seven times more years of human life” than it saves and that this number is “likely” to be more than 90 times greater.
As we have repeatedly highlighted, the untold cost of the lockdown in terms of untreated serious illnesses and the impact on mental health will not be fully known for years, but discussion around the issue has been limited in the mainstream media.
Now a new study finds that debilitating stress and anxiety caused by the lockdown, including turmoil caused by huge job losses, could lead to a plethora of negative health problems that will have a far greater overall toll on human life than the number of lives saved by the lockdown...

Image result for flickr commons images Professor Michael LevittNobel Prize-winning scientist explains why COVID lockdowns may have cost more lives than they saved - TheBlaze:

Stanford School of Medicine Professor Michael Levitt, who won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, says the strict lockdown measures imposed to combat the coronavirus pandemic may have cost more lives than they saved.
"I think lockdown saved no lives," Levitt said on Saturday, The Telegraph reported.
"I think it may have cost lives. It will have saved a few road accident lives, things like that, but social damage — domestic abuse, divorces, alcoholism — has been extreme. And then you have those who were not treated for other conditions," he explained.
