"It’s a tale of two presidents.
Just hours before President Trump was scheduled to speak at Mount Rushmore, a CNN reporter disparaged the beloved national monument.
Reporter Leyla Santiago called Mount Rushmore a “monument of two slave owners and on land wrestled away from Native Americans.”
Reporter Leyla Santiago called Mount Rushmore a “monument of two slave owners and on land wrestled away from Native Americans.”
- But when President Barack Obama visited South Dakota, CNN called Mount Rushmore, “majestic.”
- And during the Democratic presidential primary in 2008 CNN correspondent Jim Acosta noted that then-candidate Obama’s visit is a “fitting campaign stop for a presidential contender.”
- In 2016, CNN’s Jeff Zeleny called Mount Rushmore a “monument to four great American Presidents.”
- “This is our country at its very best. What a wonderful achievement,” Sen. Bernie Sanders told CNN. “Just the accomplishment and the beauty it does really make one very proud to be an American.”
I don’t recall CNN or any other Mainstream Media news outlet condemning presidents for visiting the monument.
Not a one.
Just President Trump.
