- No longer can a teacher do things like math flashcards, because that’s not acceptable. Some principals think that that would belittle the children if they see that they’re not getting their math facts fast.
- We’ve changed a lot of ways that used to work in the past by saying, ‘We can’t identify the kids that are low.’ So they try to pretend that that’s why we need cooperative learning. Just give the answer. Don’t let them say the wrong answer and feel bad about it.
- And then, they come up with this new math, and just say, ‘Getting the wrong answer is good because that helps your brain grow.’ So we’ve got this growth mindset, which is fine but we’re really allowing kids to get wrong answers and not be curious about how do we get to this right.
- The fear of belittling or saddening students is directly keeping them from learning and thriving academically.

According to the Oregonian, Portland police have produced dozens of livestreams in recent weeks in apparent attempt to show the public what it is that police are confronting on a nightly basis. But the ACLU contends the livestreams subject Americans who are simply practicing their First Amendment rights to unlawful surveillance.
With the new order, Multnomah County Circuit Court Presiding Judge Stephen Bushong agreed with the civil rights agency, at least for now. The order blocks police from "collecting or maintaining audio or video of protesters demonstrating public spaces, except where the video or audio relates to an investigation of criminal activities."

The activists "sent out a three-page contract to NuLu businesses following Friday's protest where LMPD says 76 protesters were arrested and charged with obstructing a highway and disorderly conduct," WAVE 3 News reported."Some also picked up assault charges, accused of throwing bottles at police officers."
WDRB News reported that the "demands came with a deadline of Aug. 17, or else protesters would respond by launching negative reviews and social media posts about the businesses."Local residents that reached out to The Daily Wire were stunned that the story was not receiving more attention in the local media and did not want to be identified because they feared "mob retaliation." One person said that they felt that this was "criminal extortion."

"At a time when Michigan’s unemployment rate is 14.8%, two University of Michigan professors took to social media to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on their work lives.
“Just realized that I am being asked to work at home as much as possible until the end of the year and so now I pick up all of the physical cost of my job (electricity, upgrading internet) with no raise or subsidy from the University. Those with child care duties-no compensation,” Pam Davis-Kean, a professor of psychology at U-M, tweeted July 29.
Kean was paid $133,882 in 2016-17 by U-M and saw her salary increase to $148,021 in 2019-20.
