March 2 marks Read Across America Day, a national recognition of Dr. Seuss’ birthday for more than 20 years. Now, a liberal educator group dubbed “Learning for Justice” is demanding Dr. Seuss‘ books be stripped from school libraries because of their “racial undertones.”

The One Wing of the GOP That Keeps Embarrassing Itself Over Trump by Matt Vespa
"...Funny how the only thing these principled anti-Trump conservatives want to do is…help Democrats. They’re slime balls—all of them.
...I’m done with swamp monsters.
I’m for the non-politicians.
Are some of them a bit nuts?
Sure—but I don’t care.
This town is killing America.
We have a COVID relief bill that doesn’t help anyone impacted economically by this virus.
It does help federal workers stay at home, paying them $1400 for weeks.
Where is that assistance to America’s working families?
The institutions are rigged.
The system is corrupt and anyone who wants to take a baseball bat to it, I’ll at the very least hear them out.
...I’m fine with the populist moment we’re in right now.

Rand Paul responds to accusations of 'transphobia' over questioning Rachel Levine on sex changes for children - TheBlaze

During a confirmation hearing Thursday, Paul pointedly asked Levine, who is a transgender woman, about her support for allowing children to change their sex, and whether she believes children are capable of making such life-altering decisions. Levine evaded the question, answering instead with a vague statement about the complexities of transgender medicine, which she would again reiterate for Paul's subsequent questions. Watch a video clip of the confirmation hearing here.

Prelude to a state pension bailout | American Enterprise Institute - AEI
"After decades of mismanagement, state and local government pensions face unfunded liabilities topping $4.2 trillion.
When a major public plan finally runs dry, you can bet Congress will bail it out no matter the crippling cost.
Congressional Democrats’ Covid-relief package includes a multibillion-dollar bailout for union-affiliated private-sector multiemployer pensions.

“Acceleration” in Sea-Level Rise Found to Be False – An artifact of Switching Satellites

“Acceleration” in Sea-Level Rise Found to Be False – An artifact of Switching Satellites
"One of the most common arguments climate alarmists make is that the rate of sea-level rise is “accelerating” or rising faster every year.
Sea-level data reported from satellites indicate seas are rising approximately of 3.3 mm/year.
By contrast, tidal stations have recorded a rise of approximately 1 to 2 mm annually, a rate which is little changed over the century or so for which we have adequate records.
Indeed, as reported in Climate at a Glance: Sea Level Rise, the oldest tide gauge in the USA, in New York City, shows no acceleration at all going back to 1850.
Why the large difference?
The answer it turns out is simple.
When NASA and NOAA launched new satellites, the data they produced wasn’t the same as the data recorded by earlier satellites.
...This is either incompetent or dishonest, and certainly not up to even the simplest of basic science principles.
Virtually any high school or college student who presented such work for a class would get called out on it by their instructor for showing a false trend...Read all.

NASA Vegetation Index: Globe Continues Rapid Greening Trend, Sahara Alone Shrinks 700,000 Sq Km!

  • Looking at NASA’s Vegetation Index data, the news is good: the globe has greened 10% so far this century.

"That’s good news because we know this ultimately means greater crop production area and forest expansion. Ironically, what many “experts claim to be a huge problem (CO2) is in fact one of the major reasons behind the greening.
Zoe Phin has a post on this topic at her site which really warrants attention.
Global Vegetation Index surges 10% in 20 years
Zoe downloaded all of NASA’s available 16-day-increment vegetation data from 2000 to 2021. Here’s her result:

NASA’s Vegetation Index has risen from 0.0936 to 0.1029, which is a 9.94% increase. Chart by Zoe Phin

“10% global greening in 20 years! We are incredibly fortunate!” Zoe comments on the results. “I just wish everyone felt that way. But you know not everyone does. To the extent that humans enhance global greening is precisely what social parasites want to tax and regulate. No good deed goes unpunished.”...Read all.

Man Arrested, Claims He Was Strip Searched For Going For a Walk Too Far From Home

  • A man in Wales was arrested by police for going for a walk too far from home and failing to identify himself before he claimed he was taken to the police station and subjected to a strip search.

"According to McEvoy, the couple in question were grieving the recent death of an uncle and wanted to visit the nearest beach to go for a walk.
Mr. Radek, the man seen being handcuffed in the video, says that the couple had been struggling with mental health issues as a result of lockdown.
“My family was struggling with many issues that are sourced in the constant lockdowns and homeschooling,” said Radek. “On top of that came personal family problems which we faced in the last months. They include the very serious illness of my wife’s brother and death of close relatives. We were not even able to say goodbye or go and attend the funeral in Poland.”

On returning to the car park after their walk on Talacre Beach, Radek and his wife were confronted by two female police officers who had been handing out fines.
Radek was told he had violated coronavirus regulations and was handcuffed before being subjected to a search without consent...Read all.

Supreme Court blocks a California ban on indoor church services | Fox News

The U.S. Supreme Court handed California churches a victory Friday, granting injunctive relief to a group that had sued over coronavirus lockdown rules that banned indoor services. The churches will be allowed to hold indoor services as they await a decision on their appeal in the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is hearing their case but had denied a motion to suspend the ban during it. The 6-3 decision came with the Court's liberal justices in dissent.

WaPo's Fact Checker In Chief Has No Idea When Biden Took Office by Beth Baumann

WaPo's Fact Checker In Chief Has No Idea When Biden Took Office by Beth Baumann
"Fact checking" is all the rage today.
...the head fact checker at The Washington Post...Glenn Kessler tweeted during President Donald Trump's CPAC speech, complaining about kids not being back in school.
His question was, "Who was president a month ago?"
It didn't take long for Twitter to remind the fact checker in chief that it was Biden – not Trump – that was in office a month ago...
  • Kessler's statement, however, points to a bigger issue: a few people are dubbed "fact checkers," the ones who are said to know anything and everything.
  • But the truth is if they miss something as basic as this, what else are they missing (or purposefully lying about)?...Read all!

That’s right, this “derisive” habit we have of incorrectly referring to the Democratic Party as the “Democrat Party” is not only just one more example of our “extreme partisanship,” it’s also “just another piece in a big bubbling kettle of animosities” we harbor as we attempt to make Democrats “sound like rodents.”

Seriously.
So far this winter season, 33 people have died in US avalanches, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC).
That's not far from the record 36 deaths set in 2008 and reached again in 2010.
But a unique combination of climate- and pandemic-related trends could see the US break the record.
