Predatory government! Using the power of the state to silence and intimidate the citizens!

"If you wonder why government no longer seems to work for the little guy, read this.

Maybe it's because government is too busy using its power to harass their political "enemies?
Maybe because, in its current form, our government has morphed from defender of the people into predator upon the people?

OK, here's a classic case of predatory governance by big and little government democrats.
In a nutshell:
  • A republican county commissioner, Zach Lahring, wears a Trump hat to a county board meeting (the hat said "Trump 2020").
  • A local democrat activist complains, demands the STATE intervene with full investigation.
  • State SOS bosses keep case alive for 16 months, finally "decide" the case. But not really "decide". (see below "potential violation")
 The facts:
  • President Trump was, at the time, the President of the United States of America. (Oct 2019)
  • At the time of the hurtful-hat incident, Donald J Trump was not an announced candidate for any political office.
  • To satisfy an activist democrat's complaint, a very long, taxpayer funded "investigation" was commenced.
  • The commissioner was forced to employ, at his own expense, an attorney to defend his wearing of a hat at a public meeting. A hat, bearing the name of the President of the United States.
  • The final determination was..."a potential violation of section 57 has occurred." No fine. No storm troopers invading Zach's home to seize offending hat. The process WAS the EXPENSIVE penalty!
  • An interesting aside: During the 2020 campaign, after organizations had declared their support of Presidential choices, Muskegon county moved to ZOOM meetings. Democrat commissioner, Charles Nash, used this background for many of those official meetings. There was no outcry. No official inquisition.
The real point is not this little incident, it's about big government forcing a "little guy" to pay big money to comply with ever changing speech and elections rules.
Rules that seem to be overwhelmingly intended to suppress conservative speech.
And to send a message to those who would dare to speak in public, "You may win, but it will cost you! And since it's government money, it won't cost us a cent!"

But one Republican senator is offering legislation he says will actually stop violent criminals from getting their hands on firearms.

He indicated that if a private business still wishes to limit its capacity or enforce other virus safety precautions, the business would be free to do so without a government mandate. "It is their business, and they get to choose to operate their business the way they want to," Abbott said. "At this time, however, people and businesses don't need the state telling them how to operate."

Biden admin locks ICE Twitter account used to alert public to fugitive illegal immigrants | American Military News:

"The Biden administration locked one of the Twitter accounts this week for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Tuesday, stopping public safety alerts for fugitive illegal immigrants in the United States.

Former ICE senior advisor Jon Feere tweeted on Tuesday, “It seems the Biden Admin locked [ICE Alerts] because if you were to report the location of one of these dangerous aliens to ICE, it would become too obvious that these assaulters, drug dealers, thieves, and drunk drivers are now allowed to go free under Biden’s policies.”...Read all.

WH Cuts Feed When Biden Says 'Happy to Take Questions ...' - Louder With Crowder

If you don't have confidence in President Biden's abilities, this video won't help. It's one thing to be afraid of hard questions. Our dude is already breaking records by avoiding press conferences long than anyone else. Not that those questions would be hard either, because it would be a PRESS conference. But this is Biden speaking at a virtual event with House Democrats. The topic appears to be the COVID relief bill that critics say barely provides actual relief and bails out Democrat special interests. Surely, we can trust Biden to take questions from DEMOCRATS, right?

Out of 1778 respondents, 55% said that they were more concerned with the “violence in American cities,” and 45% said that they were more concerned with the “incident at the U.S. Capitol on January 6,” a new Harvard/Harris poll found. The majority of respondents – 54% – called the Capitol riot an “armed insurrection” instead of “a protest that then turned violent.”

How do you Extinguish a Lithium Battery Fire?

How do you Extinguish a Lithium Battery Fire?

"A few weeks ago I asked a fire fighter friend how they extinguish electric vehicle battery fires.
He said “Oh you mean like a Tesla or something? The answer is you can’t. You cordon off the area, and spray a fine mist of water on the fire to try to keep the temperature down until it finishes burning. Takes a few days until it is safe”.
...The fumes from a burning lithium fire are highly toxic, capable of causing death or long term dementia like brain injuries – so you need to keep members of the public at a safe distance.
Fire fighters need to wear respirators if they approach the flame...Read all!

Poll: While Republican Voters Care About Issues, Democratic Voters' Top Concern Is Absolutely Ridiculous
"The priorities of the Democratic Party have always been hard for me to understand, and a recent survey from Echelon Insights once again has me scratching my head wondering how Democrats’ priorities can be so out of wack.
What do you think the Democrats’ number one issue of concern is?
Jobs?
Poverty?
COVID-19?
The environment?
Health care?
Pfft.
You’re not even close.
According to Kristen Soltis Anderson, the cofounder of Echelon Insights, Democrat voters’ number one issue is none of those issues.
Nor is it police brutality or LGBT issues.
In fact, the number one issue for Democrat voters isn’t even a public policy issue at all.
Democrat voters are more concerned about “Donald Trump’s supporters” than anything else.
I kid you not.
According to their survey, a stunning 82 percent of Democratic voters are Extremely/Very Concerned about “Donald Trump’s supporters.”
What does this mean?
What can we assume from this?
The answer is obvious.
Democrats are less concerned about policy issues than they are about people with whom they disagree politically...Read all!

Reporter Charlie LeDuff to sue Michigan Gov. Whitmer over nursing home coronavirus data | Fox News

"The public has a right to know. Above all, the public has a need to know. We shut down the entire economy, we interrupted our children's lives, all in the name of protecting the most vulnerable. We now know this was the institutionalized elderly. If we could not protect them, at the very least we deserve an explanation from Madam Governor," LeDuff told Fox News in an email on Monday. "If there's something more to it than that, let's say gross incompetence or gross negligence or gross press conferences designed to cover the facts, then she needs to answer for it. As I've always said, the power lies with the people, not the political parties," he added. Whitmer has come under fire recently for her handling of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities during the coronavirus pandemic.

Di Leo: Ten Indisputable Facts for March, 2021 - Illinois Review

Di Leo: Ten Indisputable Facts for March, 2021 - Illinois Review

The following are facts.

There are innumerable issues in the world of public policy which are opinions, but there are also hard facts.

Society often does itself a great disservice by conflating the two.

Treating a fact as if it were mere opinion can be even worse than treating an opinion as if it were fact.

  • The earth is not a static planet; our climates change, our weather changes, from day to day, from year to year, and from century to century, through no fault or effort of our own.  Sunspots and volcanic activity have a great deal of influence on the earth’s climate.  Human activity has almost none.  The very idea of manmade climate change being substantial enough to be perceptible or even noticeable is hogwash.
  •  Petroleum is one of the greatest gifts that Divine Providence bestowed on this planet for our benefit.  Petroleum provides us with everything from energy to clothing, from laundry detergent to eyeglasses.  Almost everything we live with is based on petroleum in some way; it should be championed, not demonized.
  • Most so-called “green energy” is anything but green.  While there are rare exceptions, wind power and solar power cost so much to manufacture, use, and eventual decommission, the fiction that they are cost-efficient requires both massive government subsidies and incredible self-denial about the environmental damage they do.  From the birds they fry or shred, to the incredible landfill space they use when retired, to the huge acreage they require for operation, green energy can honestly be described as little more than a colossal scam.
  • Recycling is wonderful when it makes sense, but it usually doesn’t...Read all!

The "choice" folks eliminating your choice-----Climate activists aim to ban new gas stations - Axios

Climate activists aim to ban new gas stations - Axios
"Petaluma, California, has voted to outlaw new gas stations, the first of what climate activists hope will be numerous cities and counties to do so.
Why it matters: Expect more such ordinances, particularly in liberal towns. Grassroots groups are popping up with the mission of spreading this type of ban and forcing pollution cleanups at existing gas stations.
..."The problem with allowing new gas stations is we don't really need them and they’re putting existing gas stations out of business."
Driving the news: In Petaluma — where neighborhood opposition to a new Safeway gas station prompted years of litigation — the council voted unanimously last week to move forward with a permanent ban on new stations; a final vote will happen Monday.
Existing stations won't be allowed to add new gas pumps, though they're encouraged to build electric charging bays...Read all!

Hidden in Nancy Pelosi's Relief Bill? A 'Personal Bailout' for Federal Employees - Louder With Crowder

Hidden in Nancy Pelosi's Relief Bill? A 'Personal Bailout' for Federal Employees - Louder With Crowder
Over the weekend, Nancy Pelosi and the House of Representatives passed the COVID relief bill, the "American Rescue Plan Act of 2021." Democrats say the components of the bill are widely popular with the American people. Which makes sense, because the American people have been struggling due to the government shutdowns. The bill is mostly known for the $1,400 checks being sent out. "Free" money is popular even if the economics behind it is a little illiterate. And yes, the one-time $1,400 checks are in the bill. Unless you work for the government. In that case, you may be eligible to get $1,400 a WEEK in what some critics are calling a "personal bailout for bureaucrats."

It's no secret. Why do we allow it?

Why Did Amazon Cancel Justice Thomas? - WSJ
  • Without explanation, the company took down a popular documentary during Black History Month.
  • Wonder Land: When progressives single out threats to "our democracy," what they mean is their democracy.
"...Early last month Amazon deleted a documentary film about Justice Clarence Thomas from its popular streaming service. Titled “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words,” and culled from more than 30 hours of interviews with its subject, the film recounts Justice Thomas’s rise from poverty in segregated Georgia to Yale Law School and, eventually, to the Supreme Court.
...The documentary began airing on PBS in May 2020 and streaming on Amazon in October.
But it was taken down by Amazon on Feb. 8, according to the director, Michael Pack, and he has never been told why.

True or Fact?-----Texas Removes Mask Mandate To Scare All The Californians Away | The Babylon Bee

Texas Removes Mask Mandate To Scare All The Californians Away | The Babylon Bee
AUSTIN, TX—Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has just lifted the mask mandate and is allowing business to return to 100% capacity.
The Governor explains that in these trying times, extreme measures must be taken to stop the spread of Californians into Texas and to scare them off from ever wanting to return.
“The last thing we need is a bunch of sissies from California moving to our beautiful state of Texas and screwing everything up and turning the state blue!” said Governor Abbott during a Lubbock Chamber of Commerce event.
...Governor Abbott continued, “We believe that by removing the mask requirement that all of the Californians will flee in terror, restoring our state to its former glory. As soon as they see the joy and hear the laughter of our citizens returning to normal life, they’ll be sure to pack up and leave at once.”
The Governor has strategically placed “No Masks Required” stickers on all Texas state signs warning all who enter of what lies beyond...Read all.
