Why I regret buying an electric car - The Spectator

Why I regret buying an electric car - The Spectator
"I bought an electric car and wish I hadn’t.
It seemed a good idea at the time, albeit a costly way of proclaiming my environmental virtuousness.
The car cost €44,000 ($53,000), less a €6,000 ($7,200) subsidy courtesy of French taxpayers, the overwhelming majority poorer than me.
Fellow villagers are driving those 20-year-old diesel vans that look like garden sheds on wheels.
...The car is chargeable, but only if you don’t cook, wash clothes or turn on the dishwasher at the same time.
...We arrive and hunt and ultimately find the charger.
It doesn’t work. Range anxiety?
More like a panic attack.
We make it to the next charger on the freeway with the battery practically empty and my marriage in peril.
...In Britain, meanwhile, the Department for Transport has, I read, granted an exclusive contract to install rapid chargers at motorway service areas to a company glorying in the name Ecotricity.
These turn out to be equally unreliable and very costly to use.
Social networks are rapidly bombarded with complaints...Read on. It gets worse!

Trump Allies to Counter Left, Block Biden by Going to Court

“The only difference between what happened to the Trump administration and what we are going to do is we’re actually going to have the law and the Constitution on our side,” says Matthew Whitaker, acting U.S. attorney general under Trump and one of those involved in the new organization.

Whitaker joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to talk about America First Legal’s plans and some of the biggest issues, including illegal immigration and Second Amendment rights, to emerge so far from the Biden administration.

Ford's new racial equity director, Angela Henderson, tackles racism
Angela Henderson is a product of Detroit...Her job is to change the landscape as racial equity director at Ford Motor Co.
...At Ford, racism is viewed less as an issue of social concern than a core priority that's considered a workplace toxin.
...Then, after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last summer, Henderson became a leading voice within the company as it evaluated social justice issues and how to manage issues as they unfolded..
...When anti-Asian attacks dominate the news or another Black teenager is shot, those events impact workers and their ability to concentrate completely at work, she said...
Day of Understanding --On Thursday at 9 a.m., an estimated 188,000 Ford employees globally will be invited to participate virtually in a company town hall for a Day of Understanding.
It will include a keynote address by Bryant Marks titled: "The Hidden Bias of Good People," with a discussion about unconscious bias that all people have.
Other topics led by Henderson will cover how to change every day behavior that contributes to systems of oppression, what it looks like to be an ally in the workplace and tips from a psychologist about building empathy...Read all.

Roosevelt University Profs Caught Gloating on Zoom Call: ‘It’s All Social Justice, All Day’

  • “said they were proud to advocate for so-called ‘social justice’ Marxist economic concepts”
April Bamburg reports at West Cook News:
‘It’s all social justice. All day. Every day.’ Socialist OPRF school board members caught gloating on Zoom
Two Roosevelt University professors who also serve on the Oak Park and River Forest High School school board were caught on an open Zoom call bragging about how they promote Marxist re-organization of American society to their college students.
Talking before the start of OPRF’s Feb. 26 board meeting on a live microphone, Gina Harris and Ralph Martire said they were proud to advocate for so-called “social justice” Marxist economic concepts.
“I mean, it’s all social justice. All day, every day, I get to talk about the things I love. I’m really living the life over here,” Harris said.
She called social justice “a part of everything,” adding that she was teaching “middle school theory and practice” to future K-12 teachers at Roosevelt....

Website Will Allow Parents and Teachers to Expose Classroom Radicalism - Washington Free Beacon

The North Carolina Board of Education in February adopted radical curriculum standards built around critical race theory—the idea that American economic and political systems are inherently racist. Critics including the Education First Alliance and North Carolina lieutenant governor Mark Robinson (R.) say the politically charged standards undermine students’ education.

Rachmuth, an investigative reporter, established Education First Alliance in January. The nonprofit opposes the use of anti-American ideologies like critical race theory and antiracism in classrooms and pushes "for the equality of dignity and of opportunity for all K-12 students."

Think about what these fools are telling us!

Manmade Global Warming: The Story & the Reality | Principia Scientific Intl.

"One of the early purposes of climate alarmism was to stimulate the reduction of the worldwide population over an extended period, under the ultimate control of a single worldwide government. It is predicated on the fictitious notion of man-produced climate change.

The plan was and perhaps still is to use climate change as a socially accepted reason to force the abandonment of the cheap, abundant energy produced by fossil fuel and nuclear generation...

History:

The patently false notion of anthropogenic global warming (AGW) and climate change was first adopted by the Club of Rome in its efforts to promote the need for population reduction. Its inauguratory meeting was held in 1968 at David Rockefeller’s estate in Bellagio, Italy. The notion of AGW and climate change was based on inaccurate understandings of the 19th Century works of John Tyndall, Heat A Mode of Motion” and Svante Arrhenius, “Worlds in the Making.”...

Summary Of Climate Realities

  • There is no demonstrably measurable man-made warming or climate change on Earth
  • Carbon dioxide does not cause any measurable warming on Earth but rather adds a slight delay to nightly cooling.
  • The lack of correlation of the linear increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide indicated by the Mauna Loa Keeling Curve and the increased use of fossil fuels worldwide over the last 40 years, proves that the increase in CO2 is not man made
  • The Earth’s climate has constantly changed over the course of its 4.6 billion year history
  • Variations in the solar system such as planetary motions, the Earth’s tilt or axis, solar and planetary gravitational fields, and the Sun’s radiative output have a profound effect on the Earth’s climate, and are periodic in nature
  • Climate change is used as an excuse worldwide by governments to tax carbon as a means of revenue generation
  • The cornerstone of the climate change fraud and deception is the incorrect notion that hydrocarbon fuels contribute to man made warming; and that nuclear power generation is inherently unsafe, and its use is irresponsible
  • It is conclusively demonstrated that only hydroelectric, hydrocarbon (fossil fuels) and nuclear generation can supply the vast amounts of energy a worldwide population of 7.8 billion people require

Texas School District Shames White Students As Part Of ‘Cultural Competence,’ Parents Enraged

Texas School District Shames White Students As Part Of ‘Cultural Competence,’ Parents Enraged
"...The Carroll Independent School District of Southlake, a Dallas suburb, is the “top-achieving school district in Texas,” according to The Federalist’s Joy Pullmann.
...But because of videos showing students singling along to rap lyrics and the media attention they received, the district overreached and instituted programs meant to combat “institutional racism” but that in reality shame white students for the color of their skin.
The district adopted a “cultural competence” plan, Pullmann reported, after the videos went viral and “sometimes-crying taxpayers, parents, and students spent hours insisting their lives have been forever damaged by the kind of ‘institutional racism’ in Southlake illustrated by the rap sing-alongs.”
...The rush to assume guilt was perpetuated by public figures, Pullman reported:
Retired Dallas Cowboys player Russell Maryland and Robin Cornish, the widow of another Cowboy, who both have kids in the district, used national media appearances to pressure the town to enact a “Cultural Competence Action Plan,” or CCAP.
A long-form article from NBC News in January that quotes Cornish accuses the town of harboring racists...Read all.

Chauvin Medical Defense Witness Is Now Being Investigated for Wrong-Think

"One defense witness already had the bloody head of a pig left on what intimidators thought was his front porch in punishment for testifying on behalf of Derek Chauvin.

Now, state-sponsored intimidators are targeting another defense witness in the trial of the police officer accused of killing George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020.

His offense?

Wrong-think.

Dr. David Fowler, the former Maryland medical examiner and forensic pathologist, testified for defendant Derek Chauvin on day 13 of the trial that the former cop’s actions weren’t solely responsible for George Floyd’s death.

And because of this opinion, Maryland will now investigate 17 years of his findings in state cases, which includes the case of Freddie Gray, Anton Black, and other high-profile perps who died in police custody...Read all.

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is a booming “white-collar industry,”

"Diversity pays . . . consultants

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is a booming “white-collar industry,” writes Sean Cooper in Tablet. Consultants are thriving.

Pantone has identified 110 skin colors.

Casper Caldarola’s Pollyanna Inc., founded in 2015, consults with private schools on DEI and “antiracism” in New York City and across the nation

...Pollyanna organizes meetings for staff and parents segregated by race, writes Cooper. It offers a proprietary Racial Literacy Curriculum, implemented in all subjects, for kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Racial Literacy Curriculum begins in kindergarten with 5- and 6-year-olds using Pantone Color Charts to match their skin tone so that they might start to see themselves and one another by skin color. “Recognizing and categorizing color is a foundational skill for early grades, and will be used as a platform for upcoming lessons that discuss skin color.”

This sounds like a parody, but apparently it’s not.

In sixth-grade history, children are taught that Nazism was devoted to the rise of “whiteness,” writes Cooper.  The genocide of what’s called the “Eastern European Hebrew” race is mentioned only in passing...Read all.

"A CONSERVATIVE IS A LIBERAL WHO’S BEEN MUGGED BY REALITY:

People in Brooklyn Center feel differently about riots and looting than people in DC.

“The respondents closest to the “unrest” aren’t very tolerant of the idea that riots and looting are acceptable forms of protest. In fact, they suggest the people who are doing those things are outside agitators and opportunists. Meanwhile, the folks who answered in DC repeatedly defend rioting as the last means of expressions for groups trying to make a point.”

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): And note this bit:

The subtext here is that most of the respondents in Brooklyn Center, the ones who aren’t rioting fans, are black. “When something like this goes on the opportunistic people come out and they try to dehumanize this,” a man wearing a “veteran” cap said.

Meanwhile, most of the respondents in DC, the ones defending riots, are white women.

Number of NYPD officers who left the force or retired last year spiked 75% amid anti-police hostility - TheBlaze:
Police officers in New York City exited the force in record numbers last year amid a surge in violence and growing anti-police sentiment.

More than 5,300 officers — or roughly 15% of the force — at the New York Police Department either retired or put in their papers to leave in 2020, the New York Post reported after reviewing department data.

In all, 2,600 officers simply left the job, while another 2,746 filed for retirement, bringing the total to a whopping 5,346. That figure marked a 75% increase over the number of officers who left the force during the previous year.

"Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler drew fierce criticism Monday after saying he did not plan to maintain a "database" for President Biden's falsehoods beyond his first 100 days in office.

"I have learned my lesson," Kessler tweeted. "'Learned my lesson' means who knows what the next four years will bring."

The Post famously maintained a database of former President Donald Trump's falsehoods during his entire term in office. Kessler called it a "wild ride."
