New Harvard Data (Accidentally) Reveal How Lockdowns Crushed the Working Class While Leaving Elites Unscathed - Foundation for Economic Education

So, all lockdowns really seem to have accomplished is at best a mild delay in the pandemic’s trajectory in exchange for a host of lethal unintended consequences such as a mental health crisis and skyrocketing drug overdoses. And, as we now know, a highly regressive economic fallout for the working class.Of course, Ivy League researchers almost certainly did not intend to expose the failings of big government pandemic policies when they set out to catalog employment data. But, as Adams said, facts are stubborn things.

Seems he was right.

With Its Power Grid Under Pressure, California Asks Residents to Avoid Charging Electric Vehicles

"Amid a West Coast heat wave that includes triple-digit temperatures, California’s power grid operators have called on residents to not use as much electricity so as to put less strain on the state’s beleaguered grid.
In the past week, the California Independent System Operator (ISO) told residents several times to voluntarily conserve energy, including asking them on social media to stop charging their electric vehicles (EVs) during peak usage times.
The operator also warned users to “[avoid] use of large appliances and turning off extra lights.”...Read all.

Police warn of purse-snatching incidents in Kent County
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Police in several West Michigan communities are warning people to watch out for purse-snatchers.
In a joint release, police from Kentwood, Wyoming, Grand Rapids and the Kent County Sheriff’s Office say there have been several purse-snatching incidents in large retail establishments.
According to police, the suspects seem to be targeting women over the age of 50 in parking lots that have their purses in a shopping cart...Read all.

Four Biden proposals would dole out taxpayer money based on critical race theory | Washington Examiner

Four Biden proposals would dole out taxpayer money based on critical race theory | Washington Examiner

"What happens when you mix toxic critical race theory with progressive economics? Thanks to President Joe Biden, we may soon find out.

Under Democratic leadership, the federal government is rolling out numerous race-based economic initiatives that explicitly dole out taxpayer money along racially discriminatory lines.

Here are four examples, as identified by Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty attorney Dan Lennington.

  1. A nearly $10 billion Treasury Department mortgage-assistance initiative plans explicitly to favor “socially disadvantaged individuals,” essentially defined as nonwhite people, in assigning the funds.
  2. A $1 billion Department of Agriculture initiative targeting “socially disadvantaged farmers” would specifically dole out taxpayer money “based on race and ethnicity.
  3. Another USDA program would spend up to $400 million to buy food from “local, regional, and socially disadvantaged farmers,” with “socially disadvantaged” once again basically standing in for “non-white.”
  4. A $10 billion Small Business Administration credit program intends to emphasize funding businesses with nonwhite ownership.

There are too many problems with this race-based approach to federal spending to count.

For one, the legality and constitutionality of these openly discriminatory government schemes are highly dubious. Some race-based government programs such as affirmative action have, unfortunately, been upheld by courts in the past. However, a federal appeals court ordered a halt to a similar Biden administration initiative that allocated COVID-19 relief funds based on race.

'Free to Learn' Coalition Exposes the Politicization of K-12 Schools in Brutal Ad Campaign

'Free to Learn' Coalition Exposes the Politicization of K-12 Schools in Brutal Ad Campaign
"Free to Learn is a new non-profit that is taking a non-partisan approach to highlighting the damage politicized content like critical theories are doing to our children and the quality of the education they receive.
The group’s mission is to support parents, caregivers, and grassroots community organizations fighting to rid their schools of political content and to refocus on core skills.
“After a year of virtual learning and having a front-row seat in the classroom, parents are waking up to the increasingly political climate in their children’s schools,” Alleigh Marré, president of the Free to Learn Coalition, explained in a press release...

...This content can become politicized through programs like Action Civics, where students lobby, protest, and influence the political process as part of the curriculum...

The ads deployed in the local markets note the declining global performance and highlight additional details of the three situations summarized in the national ad. One ad will air in the New York metro. It explicitly calls out Grace Church School and several others in the area:

Indeed, Biden is fully in league with the education establishment—and we know that means. It means that our civic future is being hijacked by CRT zealots in the professoriate, reaping exorbitant salaries to teach young people, in the mordant words of Donald Trump, Jr., to hate their country.

Fortunately, we are now in the midst of a substantial public backlash against CRT. We won’t know the effectiveness of anti-CRT activism until we see some election results—including in Virginia, where Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin is helping to rally aggrieved parents in CRT-afflicted Loudon County

Debunking the scaremongering over the ‘delta variant’ of COVID

Debunking the scaremongering over the ‘delta variant’ of COVID

"Lots of powerful people want you to stay scared about COVID, even as the toll in terms of death and hospitalization continues to plummet in the United States and other advanced countries. Because viruses naturally evolve rapidly, they have a new variant, at first called “The Indian variant” because it was first spotted there. But it has now been renamed the “delta variant,” perhaps to be able to continue to maintain that calling COVID “the Chinese virus,” or “the Wuhan flu,” is racist.  The normal practice of naming new diseases after the place they were first identified (German measles, Hong Kong flu, Lyme disease) had to be suspended to protect China’s interests (as the W.H.O. so assiduously does) and to demonize Donald Trump as a racist.

...By specifying that the object is “our attempt to eliminate COVID-19,” Fauci is positing an impossible goal. We haven’t eliminated the common cold or any of the flu variants that plague us every year...

Update: This is just disgraceful! Joe Biden claimed that the delta variant is "deadlier."

America’s Frontline Doctors, that brave group of physicians who have resisted the enforced party line on COVID, has published a video from Britain that takes 3 minutes to show that the appearance and rapid spread of the delta variant in England has led to a decline in hospitalizations and deaths. It is well worth watching as it methodically graphs the data on Covid there, proving that the scaremongering is deceptive propaganda.

Rep. Beeler introduces plan to prohibit critical race theory in K-12 curriculum

State Rep. Andrew Beeler today introduced a plan to prevent a state or local K-12 curriculum from including race or gender stereotyping.

“Students go to school to learn, and our curriculum should not be teaching students to stereotype each other based on race or gender or to view themselves or their country poorly as a result,” said Beeler, of Port Huron.

Is Your Teenager Secretly A Libertarian? 9 Warning Signs To Look For

It's every parent's worst nightmare: your kid comes out as a libertarian. Don't worry -- we can help you nip it in the bud. You should be closely involved in your teen's life to make sure he doesn't suddenly start believing in freedom and personal responsibility. Make sure to constantly check for these 9 warning signs:

1. You walk into his room late at night and he frantically tries to hide the video he's watching: Ron Paul's Liberty Report. - Caught red-handed.

2. He asks for his allowance in Bitcoin.Dogecoin can also be a red flag.

3. He screams, "AM I BEING DETAINED!?" when you ask him to come downstairs for dinner. - Also during detention, when you make him go to the grocery store with you, and pretty much anytime anyone asks him to do anything.

4. You check under his mattress and sure enough, he's been hiding the worst thing imaginable: a copy of Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell. - Talk to your kids about Sowell before it's too late...Read all!

Monday Is The Last Day To Submit Comments On ABA's Proposal To Mandate Racism And Bias Training At All Law Schools

"Following up on my previous posts:

Brian Leiter notes that Monday is the last day for submitting comments on the ABA's proposed changes to the law school accreditation standards to mandate racism and bias training.

Here are some of the interesting comments submitted thus far:

David Bernstein and Brian Leister [sic]:

Professor Brian Leiter and I agree on very little...By seeming to mandate such preferences, the ABA would be taking the decision out of the hands of the individual schools, and instead making it a requirement of accreditation. If a particular law school disagreed with the ABA"s views on diversity, the ABA would nevertheless require that school to act illegally lest its accreditation be threatened.

Homan: Biden Is the 'First President in the History of This Nation That's Actively Facilitating Illegal Immigration'

Friday on FNC’s “Hannity,” former ICE Director Tom Homan, now a Fox News contributor, slammed the Biden administration on the heels of Vice President Kamala Harris’ trip to El Paso.

Homan told fill-in host Jesse Watters that Harris should have “been embarrassed” by the circumstances at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Can more local self-rule save a 'Late-Roman' America?

Can more local self-rule save a 'Late-Roman' America?
"Observed from some angles, the United States is falling apart.
All over, we’re seeing signs of fragmentation.
  • At the smallest scale, the tony community of Buckhead, Ga., may be seceding from Atlanta. Mayor Keisha Bottoms’ anti-anti-crime strategy has led to a predictable criminal surge. Buckhead wants escape from dysfunction — via self-rule.
  • The same thing is happening within states. Last month, several communities in eastern Oregon voted to secede and join Idaho. The region’s farmers don’t want to be ruled from their state’s weed- and Antifa-plagued coastal regions.
  • Parts of New Mexico want to join Texas.
  • A huge swath of downstate Illinois talks of splitting from Chicagoland.
  • Some upstate New Yorkers have been talking for years of splitting away from Gotham.
  •  Then there are various plans for splitting California into two, three or even six new states. All are gaining attention.
...Left and right, in other words, are resisting federal rule when it comes to their pet issues.
And recently it’s gone beyond resistance.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is sending law enforcers to assist Texas and Arizona.
Faced with the Biden administration’s reluctance to secure the border, threatened states are cooperating with one another to do a job once left to federal authorities.
Any one of these developments might be unimportant, maybe even amusing.
But put together, they have a certain late-Roman-Empire flavor.
And there’s more...Read all!!!!!

Amazon supports the left. The left HATES Amazon!-----Amazon Prime Day Is Dystopian - The Atlantic

Amazon Prime Day Is Dystopian - The Atlantic
"...Prime is Amazon’s greatest and most terrifying invention: a product whose value proposition is to help you buy more products.
With 200 million subscribers worldwide, it is the second-most-popular subscription service on Earth, poised to overtake Netflix in the not-so-distant future.
...You’re paying to have your every purchase cataloged—also something consumers aren’t wild about, at least in theory—so that Amazon can use that information to sell you, and people like you, more goods.
...Amazon’s warehouses bring traffic and pollution to the neighborhoods they’re in, many of which are poor.
...Prime isn’t just bad for Amazon’s workers—it’s bad for Target’s, and Walmart’s.
It’s bad for the people behind the counter at your neighborhood hardware store and bookstore, if your neighborhood still has a hardware store and a bookstore.
...If amazon is like climate change, subscribing to Prime is like flying: a personal choice that pales in comparison with what government intervention could do.

Why can't America build any new F-22 Raptors? - Sandboxx

Why can't America build any new F-22 Raptors? - Sandboxx
"The U.S Air Force has two air superiority fighters in their stable in the F-22 Raptor and F-15 Eagle, but when looking to bolster the fleet with purchases of a new (old) jet for the job, it was the Eagle, not the famed Raptor, to get a second lease on life.
That really begs the question: if America can buy new F-15s, a design that’s nearly 50 years old, why isn’t it looking to build new F-22s instead?
By most accounting, the F-22 Raptor remains the most capable air superiority fighter on the planet, with its competition in China’s J-20B beginning to shape up and Russia’s Su-57 still lagging a bit behind
The F-22 really is still at the top of its game… but that doesn’t mean building more actually makes good sense.
The F-22 and F-35 are fighters with two very different jobs...Read all.
