Gov. Abbott recently ordered aggressive action against TikTok requiring that all Texas state agencies "ban the use of TikTok on any government-issued devices" over the threat of the Chinese government "gaining access to critical U.S. information and infrastructure."
The University of Texas at Austin sent a letter to students informing them that the app has been prohibited on the school's Wi-Fi and wired internet networks in response to the governor.
“The university is taking these important steps to eliminate risks to information contained in the university’s network and to our critical infrastructure,” the letter reads.

- A red faced U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) admitted Thursday its staff “unintentionally deleted files” in a key computer system causing the January 11 commercial airline ground stop, which affected more than 11,000 flights and caused mayhem for travelers.
- Reuters reports the FAA said the human error occurred while personnel were working “to correct synchronization between the live primary database and a backup database”, and it had “so far found no evidence of a cyber attack or malicious intent.”

Country star John Rich recently boasted about winning a legal battle against a venue that tried to enforce a vaccine passport at one of his concerts.
According to the outspoken singer, he never played at venues that would require concert-goers to present vaccine passports or any "papers" in order to attend. Rich says that one venue tried to add the stipulation after he booked a show, so Rich canceled. At that point, the promoter sued the singer.
“During the lockdowns, I stated I’d NEVER play a concert venue that forced fans to show their ‘papers’ for entry concerning Covid,” Rich tweeted.
