Bill’s Blog: The Drought of 1988

Bill’s Blog: The Drought of 1988 - by: Bill Steffen - Posted: Jun 26, 2023 / 03:55 PM EDT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — 1988 saw the worst drought we’ve had since the Dust Bowl in the 1930s.
The drought began in April and lasted into July.
  • Here in Grand Rapids, we had a stretch of 73 days from April 28 – July 9 with only 1.32 inches of rain...
  • It wasn’t just the drought, it was the heat. Grand Rapids had a record 37 days that reached 90 degrees and we recorded our first 100-degree day since 1964...
  • This was also the year of the Great Yellowstone fire. Nearly 800,000 acres were burnt in that fire. That’s an area about 1.4 times the size of Kent County.
  • To our west, Milwaukee went 55 consecutive days with no measurable rain...

Welcome to the World of Postmodern Medicine

Welcome to the World of Postmodern Medicine - Posted by Leslie Eastman
  • A disturbing look at the “queering of medicine”, policies impacted by climate pseudoscience, and the push for using hospice from hospital chains.
"Dr. Erica Li is a pediatrician practicing in the state of Washington, as well as teaching medical students from three medical schools and interns from four residency programs.
Li recently published a chilling piece in Substack about the current state of medicine in this country, which she referred to as being “postmodern.”
...While it leverages the same technologies as Modern medicine, thereby superficially resembling it, it fundamentally seeks to dismantle Modern medicine’s underlying philosophy.
While Postmodern medicine is being propagated across American medical schools through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion bureaucracies, nothing exemplifies Postmodernity more than the gender ideology that drives American “gender-affirming” model of care.
I wish to strongly advocate for Modern medicine and urge readers to resist the ideological shift towards the Postmodernizing or “queering” of my profession...
However, I reject the overmedicalization of children propagated by many gender activists.
At its core, Postmodern medicine is as far removed from Modern medicine as witch-burning.
It poses serious risks to patient welfare and should be vehemently resisted...

Biden faces backlash for Camp David guest after IRS whistleblower allegations exposed: 'Business to discuss?' | Fox News

The White House received backlash Saturday after it was reported that Hunter Biden was accompanying his father to Camp David amid bombshell whistleblower allegations of political corruption – along with recently pleading guilty to federal tax charges and agreeing to plea deal on a felony gun charge.

The House Ways and Means Committee revealed Thursday its interview with an IRS whistleblower last month who shared a WhatsApp message from 2017 in which Hunter Biden allegedly told a Chinese business associate that he and his father would ensure "you will regret not following my direction."

Money for Ukraine but not enough to fix roads?!!-----States weigh charging by the mile as fuel taxes plummet

States weigh charging by the mile as fuel taxes plummet
"States are looking for ways to keep the funds coming in order to maintain the nation's roads.
Gas taxes have been used for more than a century for the purpose.
The problem that has developed is those taxes are generating less each year due to inflation, fuel efficiency and the rise of electric cars.
States are experimenting with various ideas that could eventually replace those taxes.
One proposal that seems to be gaining in popularity would be to charge drivers by the mile instead of the gallon...

Federal judge dismisses transgender plaintiffs' lawsuit seeking to change their sex on birth certificates - TheBlaze

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to force the state of Tennessee to allow transgender plaintiffs to change their birth certificates to match their gender identity, the Associated Press reported. U.S. District Judge Eli Richardson wrote that the word "sex," when it comes to birth certificates, means "external genitalia at birth." The judge also said that a birth certificate does not become inaccurate if the person's gender identity later in life is a mismatch.

Wow, the solution?!!-----2024: How to Out-Compute the Left - American Thinker

2024: How to Out-Compute the Left - American Thinker - By Jay Valentine
  • In 2024 Republicans cannot "out-fraud" the left, cannot "out-ballot-harvest" them, cannot "out-lawfare" them, cannot "out-media" them, cannot "out–contribution mule" them, cannot "out–Justice Department" them...but sure as hell can out-compute them — and that may do it.
  • The left owns the election apparatus — voting equipment, ballot-manufacturing, vagrant habitats, election commissions, media intimidation of judges not to look at election fraud and driving out any lawyer who raises a valid case
  • Electioneering, by both sides, currently runs 1970s technology. Leftists make good use of obsolete relational tech; Republicans, not so much.
In 2024, there is an opportunity to out-compute the left.
Here's what it may look like.
Ninety percent of current election fraud comes in two buckets:
  • election commissions jacking with voter rolls like Arizona and
  • Wisconsin and mail-in ballots collected and illegally voted like everywhere.
Neither fraud bucket is thwarted by organizational solutions — both can be stopped with real-time compute power...

Worth knowing the true history!-----Putin Invokes 1,000-year Russia By Clifford Thies

Putin Invokes 1,000-year Russia By Clifford Thies

"In an address to the nation during the recent failed coup attempt, Vladimir Putin referred to a 1,000-year history of Russia, and to a stabbed-in-the-back theory of WWI.
This man believes in this cartoonish mythology and has nuclear weapons.
  • A short history of Russia.
In the Russia view, the 1,000 years of Russia began in 862, upon the arrival of a not particularly noteworthy chieftain in a not particularly noteworthy place.
This event was followed by a series of historical accidents and “inevitably” resulted in the emergence of a great and powerful state, namely, the Russian Empire...

The group released a music video titled: "A Message From the Gay Community." The video begins with one singer announcing, "As we celebrate Pride and progress we've made over these past years, there's still work to be done. So to those of you out there who are still working against equal rights, we have a message for you." The song is about the "gay agenda," and the lyrics declare: "We'll convert your children."

Drag queens chanting ‘we’re coming for your kids’ hurt gay rights

Drag queens chanting ‘we’re coming for your kids’ hurt gay rights - New York Post
"At New York’s annual Drag March on Friday, activists chanted “we’re here, we’re queer, we’re coming for your children.”
It’s shocking.
But not new
In recent years, such blunt, outrageous rhetoric from the gay left has become pretty familiar.
Two years ago, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus released a YouTube video in which 81 of its members sang a song with the refrain: “We’ll convert your children / Happens bit by bit. / Quietly and subtly. / You will barely notice it.”...

Rishi Sunak to hit households with 170 net zero green levy
"Households will pay a £170-a-year green levy on energy bills in the coming days, with Rishi Sunak and Jeremy Hunt accused of “slyly” shifting costs back to consumers...
The cost of the levies was shifted from consumer bills to be funded instead by the Government, following a year-long campaign by energy firms and MPs amid spiraling gas, electricity and food prices last year.
It will again be imposed on consumers...

What Is Biden’s Obsession With Using F-16s To Kill Other Americans? - Kurt Schlichter

What Is Biden’s Obsession With Using F-16s To Kill Other Americans? - Kurt Schlichter
"Alleged president Joe Biden is on his “ban assault rifles'' kick again because the government apparently needs to keep firearms
  • out of the hands of law-abiding citizens and
  • in the hands of meth-addled whoremonger scumbags like his son.
One constant component of this stumped stump speech is a line of nonsense that essentially boils down to us not needing real guns to fight government tyranny because the government – his government – will unleash the F-16s on you uppity peasants if you fail to obey your elite masters.
...Putin’s Wagner problem provides an example of what happens when the folks you are counting on to do your dirty work start counting and realize that the numbers are on their side.
But all mutinies are not openly mutinous
A little story, with the names omitted to protect the jerk involved:
There once was this aviation battalion commander who was a real pain – just obnoxious – and then the battalion deployed to a combat zone. The commander continued being obnoxious, including to maintenance personnel. And suddenly, the unit operational readiness rate for the choppers dropped. This is bad. You do not want to be in a war zone and have to explain why 80% of your choppers are grounded. You can’t just order the aircraft ungrounded – you need to get the maintainers to maintain and sign off. But the OR rate kept dropping, and no amount of threats, screaming, and other fulminations could bring it up. The generals relieved the commander; oddly, the OR rate shot right up under the new CO. So, all resistance is not necessarily kinetic...

The Pentagon's AI is not going to look like ChatGPT - JAZZ SHAW

The Pentagon's AI is not going to look like ChatGPT - JAZZ SHAW
"...That brings us back to the everpresent SKYNET question.
  • What will the Pentagon’s AI system be “thinking” about when it has access to all of our military secrets and intelligence assets?
And what might it decide to do with that information if it has control of some of the Pentagon’s more interesting toys?
Those include things like their autonomous military drones that carry weapons and use limited (for now) artificial intelligence to navigate the battlefield and identify targets.
  • Do we really want a system such as the one being planned to have that kind of firepower?
Call me paranoid if you wish, but I’m no longer entirely joking when I say that this is all getting a distinctly SKYNET feel to it.
‘PentGPT, stand down the missile launchers.’

Ted Cruz calls on House to investigate impeaching Biden over Hunter allegations: 'Direct evidence' | Fox News

"This WhatsApp directly ties Joe Biden to the millions of dollars coming from communist China," Cruz said. "Now, it is possible Hunter Biden was lying, it's possible Joe Biden wasn't next to him. It's possible Joe Biden was not going to inflict official damage on the Chinese if they didn't pay him and his son millions of dollars. That's possible, but you know what, we don't know if it's true or not. Why? Because, according to the whistleblower, they didn't investigate, and they were prohibited from investigating. They were prevented from even asking the question." "Let me be clear: This, on the face of it, is obstruction of justice," he said. "And if Merrick Garland issued that order, he is the one blocking the investigation, and I think there's real evidence of Merrick Garland being guilty of obstruction of justice."
