Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky is once again pushing for Anthony Fauci, former director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, to face legal consequences for allegedly lying to Congress.
Paul announced Saturday that he had sent an "official criminal referral" to the Department of Justice, citing a Feb. 1, 2020, email wherein Fauci indicated that gain-of-function research had indeed been under way at "Wuhan University" — a private admission that Paul indicated contradicts the former NIAID director's sworn statements before Congress.

Paul pointed to an email from February 2020 in which Fauci detailed a call with British medical researcher Jeremy Farrar, who was director of the Wellcome Trust at the time. According to Fauci, those on the task-force call, including Francis Collins, former director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, and other "highly credible" scientists with expertise in evolutionary biology, expressed concern about the "fact upon viewing the sequences of several isolates of the nCoV, there were mutations in the virus that would be most unusual to have evolved naturally in the bats and that there was a suspicion that this mutation was intentionally inserted."

- Breitbart News reported that nine people were shot just before 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood when multiple people exited a Jeep and opened fire on a group of women. One woman was killed, and eight others were injured....
