• PARKING is at Coast Guard Park (on the right)-ACROSS the street from Ottawa Sands Park.

Ottawa Sands County Park

• Easy/moderate hike around old sand mining lake. Similar to Norton Shore's Dune Harbor Park.

2.5 miles, 1.5 hr hike.

Sand and a few moderate dune climbs.

Porta potties, no parking fee. 

We'll see:

• The "yurt village" project.
• Grand River
• The Sag
• Harbor Island

- Directions - 

From North. Take Grand Haven Rd south to North Shore Rd. Turn right (W - by the fire station). Travel just over one mile to the entrance of Coast Guard Park. Turn right.

Or From US-31, take the Ferrysburg exit west on to 3rd Street to North Shore Rd. Turn west on North Shore and travel just over one mile to Coast Guard Park lot on right. 

Park in the Coast Guard Park lot (on N. side of the road. Across the street from Ottawa Sands.)

• If you have, them bring your hiking poles. Or buy them on Amazon/Dunhams. I've paid about $20-30. Walmart has them for $13-22.
• It's always best to wear hiking boots. Dunhams a good place, you can try them on.

Free parking, porta-potty on site, no parking fee.

• We can judge the results of the pandemic response, then, by the number of people who claim it as their own. 
• So far the answer seems to be: none.

These days, if you listen to the rhetoric, you would think that absolutely no one forced anyone to do anything, not even take the jab. 

There were no mask mandates. 

No one was ever locked down. 

There were some mistakes, sure, but those came only from doing the best we could with the knowledge we had.
Other than make well-considered recommendations, they didn’t force anyone to do anything...
