Fiddling with Volcanic CO2 | The Pipeline

Fiddling with Volcanic CO2 | The Pipeline - Clarice Feldman
"...This year through October, there were 67 confirmed eruptions from 66 different volcanos around the world. This is not an unusual amount of volcanic activity...
The volume of volcanic CO2 emissions has been substantially underestimated.
Because naturally-emitted CO2 and Co2 emitted as a result of human activity have the very same isotopes, it is impossible to distinguish the source and has not been accurately assessed for a number of reasons...
A recent study...indicates that CO2 emissions from volcanos and other natural causes are six times higher than man-made sources...
According to a new study, the claim that increases in atmospheric CO2 are driven exclusively by humans relies on a made-up, disparate accounting model, with the residence time for natural emissions three to four years (which is consistent with actual observations), but CO2 from human sources is claimed to have a residence time of 50 to over 100 years. [emphasis, links added]
The 15 to 30 times longer residence time for human emissions is an imaginary conceptualization that is wholly inconsistent with (1) bomb tests (1963) and (2) seasonal CO2 variations found in real-world observations. Human emissions account for under 5 percent of the total from all sources, natural and anthropogenic...

Oregon opioid deaths increase 13x after drug decriminalization law: 'We have to do something different'
"As Oregon reaches the three-year anniversary of passing its trailblazing law decriminalizing hard drugs like heroin, meth and cocaine, death and devastation are pushing many to plead for its reversal.
Opioid-related deaths in the Beaver State have skyrocketed to 955 this year, up from 280 in 2019 before the law – Measure 110 – was passed with 58% approval.
"This breaks my heart," Michael Bock, a private security guard in Portland, said of the drastic change Monday on "America's Newsroom." "What happened before 110 got passed was that I revived zero people. Since 110's passing, it's almost daily

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, a Democrat, has come under fire for planning a “no whites” Christmas Party that specifically sought to exclude white members of the city government.

Wu’s aide issued an apology this week after she mistakenly sent an invite for the mayor’s “no whites” Christmas Party to all members of the Boston City Council when only the “Electeds of Color” were meant to receive the invite.

UN Climate Karens Melt Down After COP28 Summit Ditches Fossil Fuel 'Phase-Out' Language |

"Last week, Sultan al Jaber, the president of the UN's COP28 climate summit, insisted that there is "no science" behind calls to phase-out fossil fuels, before getting in a hilarious eco-fight with three leading women from the conference over climate change and gender.

“You’re asking for a phase-out of fossil fuel," al-Jaber said.

"Please, help me, show me for a phase-out of fossil fuel that will allow for sustainable socio-economic development, unless you want to take the world back into caves.”

Responding to the remark, U.N. Environment Program Executive Director Inger Andersen said she lives in Kenya with solar power and clean electricity from the local utility.

“I'm not living in a cave," she added.

"That's all I can say.”...

Bad things happen in small steps, and no one knows this better than Jordan Peterson.

“Things get to terrible places one tiny step at a time,” Peterson told Joe Rogan in a past interview. “If I encroach on you and I’m sophisticated about it, I’m going to encroach two millimeters. I’m going to encroach right to the point where you start to protest, then I’m going to stop.”

Europe Can't Defend Itself - DAVID STROM

Europe Can't Defend Itself - DAVID STROM
"One of the many, many, MANY things Trump got grief for during his presidency is his cajoling of Europeans to spend more time, attention, and money on defense.
As on many other issues, Trump was right and his critics wrong...
With the end of the Cold War, Europeans went all-in on the “peace dividend” and, over the years, have essentially disarmed themselves, partly banking on the US commitment to the defense of our European allies and partly convinced that history had ended and peace would reign–at least on the Eurasian continent.
Russia may direct its military forces south but would never dare to look West.
The result?
European countries don’t really have militaries at all–and that is hardly an exaggeration.
If the US chose not to defend European countries from an external attack, they would collapse like a house of cards...
