Residents of Maine are expressing their outrage over the state’s plans to spend $13 million on constructing apartment complexes for illegal border crossers where some could be afforded up to two years of free rent.

The apartment complex plan — derisively labeled the “Taj Mahal” for illegals — took a lot of heat from residents of Brunswick during a February 20 city council meeting. The locals were upset over the fact that the same apartments that cost citizens between $1,800 and $2,300 a month were going to be handed out to illegals for free.

• More expensive oil, coupled with the Ukraine war, also means more expensive fertilizer and thus more expensive food...
• Then there’s the baby formula shortage...

So does the Biden administration actually want to see middle-class Americans reduced to poverty and privation? 

Or is it just too stupid to foresee the obvious consequences of its own actions? 

At this point, I’m not even sure which is worse...

C-63 would enable Trudeau's leftist government to define "hate speech" online; create a stand-alone "hate crime"; set "strict penalties" for perceived offenses; and allow concern-mongers to file complaints without facing the accused.  

The legislation defines hatred thusly: "the emotion that involves detestation or vilification and that is stronger than disdain or dislike."... Hate crime offenses, including those related to "sexual orientation or gender identity or expression," would carry a maximum sentence of life imprisonment...

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told Congress on Thursday that more than 25,000 women and children had been killed by Israel in Gaza since October 7, but the Pentagon later clarified that estimate, saying the figure came from the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry, not U.S. intelligence.

During a congressional hearing, Austin was asked how many Palestinian women and children had been killed by Israel and Austin replied: “It is over 25,000.”

A few hours later, Sabrina Singh, a Pentagon spokesperson, said that Austin was citing an estimate from the Gaza health ministry and was referring to total Palestinians killed, not just women and children.

“We cannot independently verify these Gaza casualty figures,” Singh said in a statement.

Back in November, Hot Air’s David Strom wrote in astonishment that the New York Times’ Elizabeth Spiers “didn’t know that Hamas runs the Gaza Health Ministry. Let that sink in. She literally did not know that. She thought it was a conspiracy theory.”

A federal judge on Thursday ruled that former Fox News and CBS journalist Catherine Herridge was in contempt of court for not revealing her sources in a series of 2017 reports while she was at Fox. Herridge was also hit with an $800-a-day fine for not revealing her sources in a series of stories that said Chinese American scientist Yanping Chen was under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Chen has since sued the FBI, saying the Privacy Act was violated by information leaked by the FBI, according to CNN.
