We don't want journalism back - Don Surber
It blamed Trump.
If you’re a working journalist and you believe that Donald J. Trump is a demagogue playing to the nation’s worst racist and nationalistic tendencies, that he cozies up to anti-American dictators and that he would be dangerous with control of the United States nuclear codes, how the heck are you supposed to cover him?Blah, blah, blah.
Because if you believe all of those things, you have to throw out the textbook American journalism has been using for the better part of the past half-century..
But the question that everyone is grappling with is: Do normal standards apply? And if they don’t, what should take their place?
The newspaper was rationalizing its decision to become a completely propagandist tool of anti-American fascists...

- Force conversions to electric vehicles without putting the proper and sufficient charging infrastructure in place? Check.
- Manufacture millions (billions?) of solar panels with no disposal plan in place? Check.

"Monorail!"-----The H Stands For Hype - Robert Bryce
- On June 10, 1975, during the 94th Congress, the House of Representatives held the first of two “investigative hearings on the subject of hydrogen...claimed hydrogen “has the potential of playing the same kind of role in our energy system as electricity does today.”
- In 1996, the Chicago Sun-Times declared “The first steps toward what proponents call the hydrogen economy are being taken.”
- President George W. Bush bought the hydrogen hype. In his 2003 State of the Union Address, he said, “With a new national commitment, our scientists and engineers will overcome obstacles” to taking hydrogen-fueled automobiles “from laboratory to showroom so that the first car driven by a child born today could be powered by hydrogen, and pollution-free.”...
The Climate Cargo Cult
- Why?
- Because in it, he examines completeness...
During the war they saw airplanes land with lots of good materials, and they want the same thing to happen now. So they’ve arranged to make things like runways, to put fires along the sides of the runways, to make a wooden hut for a man to sit in, with two wooden pieces on his head like headphones and bars of bamboo sticking out like antennas — he’s the controller — and they wait for the airplanes to land. They’re doing everything right. The form is perfect. It looks exactly the way it looked before. But it doesn’t work. No airplanes land. So I call these things Cargo Cult Science, because they follow all the apparent precepts and forms of scientific investigation, but they’re missing something essential, because the planes don’t land.
