MIAMI (AP) — In a story June 27 about the Democratic presidential debate, The Associated Press reported erroneously in some versions that former Vice President Joe Biden worked with Republican segregationist senators. 
In fact, the senators were Democrats.
A corrected version of the story is below:
...It was one of several moments that left the 76-year-old Biden, who entered the night as his party’s early front-runner, on the defensive as he works to convince voters he’s still in touch with the modern Democratic Party and best-positioned to deny President Donald Trump a second term.
“I do not believe you are a racist,” Harris said to Biden before criticizing his record of working with Democratic (AP originally lied and printed "Republican") segregationist senators on non-race issues as “hurtful.”..."

MUSKEGON, MI – World War II bomber “Yankee Lady” is visiting Muskegon Saturday
and the public is welcome to step aboard for a history lesson.
...For $450, one can fly on the Yankee Lady during three Flight Experience Saturday.
The B-17 “Flying Fortress” is a four-engine heavy bomber that flew deep into enemy territory, striking such important targets as munitions factories, oil refineries and military installations.
The bombers carried crews of 10 and up to 13 50-caliber machine guns.
It’s estimated there are about 10 airworthy Boeing B-17s still in existence. 
More than 12,700 of the bombers were built between 1936 and 1945 and an estimated 5,000 were shot down over Europe during WWII.
(Inside of the plane) Tours will cost $5, $2 for children ages 6-15 and free for those under 6.
The Muskegon County Airport is located at 99 Sinclair Drive in Norton Shores.
Tours will be available...from 9-9:30 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Tours may go later on Saturday depending on interest.
A portion of the Flight Experience proceeds will be donated to the USS LST 393 Veterans Museum.
The WWII landing ship is docked near downtown Muskegon and houses a museum open to the public.

"This article illustrates perfectly the foolishness of world political leaders - trying to make a political point when in fact putting foot in mouth.

The newest TIME magazine cover features United Nations chief António Guterres standing in the water off the island nation of Tuvalu, which the outlet called “one of the world’s most vulnerable countries” to global warming.

The photo, taken during Guterres’ four-country tour of Pacific nations in May, is meant to illustrate one point — that island nations are sinking in the face of global warming-induced sea-level rise.

TIME titled it’s Thursday cover story, “Our Sinking Planet.” 
There’s just one problem: Scientific studies show Tuvalu’s islands, indeed most Pacific islands, have actually grown in the face of sea level rise.

A 2018 study found that Tuvalu’s total land area grew nearly 3 percent from 1971 to 2014, despite rising sea levels. Satellite and aerial photos showed eight of Tuvalu’s nine atolls and three-quarters of its reef islands increased in size over the last four decades.

Study lead author Paul Kench told AFP, “the dominant mode of change over that time on Tuvalu has been expansion, not erosion.” Kench made similar findings in a 2010 study.

“On the basis of this research we project a markedly different trajectory for Tuvalu’s islands over the next century than is commonly envisaged,” Kench said. “While we recognize that habitability rests on a number of factors, loss of land is unlikely to be a factor in forcing depopulation of Tuvalu.”

Another 2018 study found that nearly 90 percent of low-lying islands in the Pacific and Indian oceans either remained stable or increased in size over the decades."

The Michigan Public Service Commission recently approved Consumers Energy’s plan to dismantle most of its conventional-fuel generating capacity. 
The company says it will replace that capacity with wind turbines and solar arrays. 
It also says these other sources can produce 56 percent of the electricity it will need to generate in 2040.

...The company says it can replace the lost capacity by installing enough industrial wind turbines to generate 550 megawatts of electricity and enough photovoltaic solar collectors to produce 6,000 megawatts. 
By comparison, wind and solar provided just 5% of the electricity used by Michigan customers in 2017. 
Coal was the largest source of electricity, at 37%, while nuclear provided 28%, and another 23% came from natural gas..."

"In the first 5½ months of 2019, over 200 scientific papers have been published that cast doubt on the position that anthropogenic CO2 emissions function as the climate’s fundamental control knob…or that otherwise serve to question the efficacy of climate models or the related “consensus” positions commonly endorsed by policymakers and mainstream media sources.

These 200+ new papers affirm the position that there are significant limitations and uncertainties inherent in our understanding of climate and climate changes, emphasizing that climate science is not settled.

More specifically, the papers in this compilation support these four main skeptical positions — categorized here as N(1) – N(4) — which question climate alarm.

• N(1) Natural mechanisms play well more than a negligible role (as claimed by the IPCC) in the net changes in the climate system, which includes temperature variations, precipitation patterns, weather events, etc., and the influence of increased CO2 concentrations on climatic changes are less pronounced than currently imagined.
• N(2) The warming/sea levels/glacier and sea ice retreat/hurricane and drought intensities…experienced during the modern era are neither unprecedented or remarkable nor do they fall outside the range of natural variability.
• N(3) The computer climate models are neither reliable or consistently accurate, and projections of future climate states are little more than speculation as the uncertainty and error ranges are enormous in a non-linear climate system.
