Only 5% of Detroit 8th graders read at proficient level - By Molly
  • Students in every Michigan school deserve access to high-quality education.
  • Unfortunately, only 5% of Detroit’s 8th graders can read at a proficient level.
Only one out of 20 students in the Detroit Public Schools Community District scored at a “proficient” level on the eighth grade National Assessment of Educational Progress reading test...
Just 5% of students met the minimum score needed for Detroit’s 50,000 students to be prepared for higher-level coursework...

Biden's latest target in his war on appliances: air conditioning units - Glenn H. Reynolds
  • Is there a war on appliances? Or is it a war on you?
"I’d tell you to keep your cool, but that’s going to be hard when Team Biden takes away your air conditioner.
And the Biden administration certainly has an appetite for regulating household appliances in a way that seems calculated to make your life worse....
Before that, the Energy Department had nixed Trump-era regulatory reforms designed to allow “quick” dishwashers, as well as similarly improved washers and dryers.
Want your dishes or clothes done in what used to be seen as a normal time? Forget it, peasants!
Now, in the latest episode of Team Biden’s “war on appliances,” the Energy Department has turned its attention to air conditioners, specifically room air conditioners of the sort used disproportionately by poor people, minorities and the elderly to keep cool in summer heat...

All-American swimmer blasts ESPN for honoring transgender athlete
"Former Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines has been at the forefront of the criticism of former Penn swimmer Lia Thomas, who competed against other women after transitioning from being male and eventually won an Ivy League Championship and NCAA Championship in the 500 free.
  • ESPN recently honored Thomas in a “Celebrating Women’s History Month” segment and Gaines was not happy about it.
The 12-time All-American swimmer blasted ESPN and Thomas over the honor in a tweet over the weekend.
“Lia Thomas is not a brave, courageous woman who EARNED a national title,” Gaines tweeted Sunday.
“He is an arrogant, cheat who STOLE a national title from a hardworking, deserving woman.
The @ncaa is responsible.
“If I was a woman working at ESPN, I would walk out.
You’re spineless @espn.”

Limits to Growth Revisited - American Thinker - By William R. Forstchen
"Oh my God -- we’re doomed.
...I started to thumb through the pages of a work that took a team of international experts years to research and has sold well over 12 million copies since publication...
The list went on and on, a list that would render any sane reader numb with despair...the book that I was reading, Limits to Growth, was published more than fifty years ago in 1972.
1972?
I remember it well. I was in college and still of a mindset that swallowed much of what my young, hip professors were preaching that spring from this new bible...
The dates for some of these predictions were clearly stated in the Limits to Growth:
  • oil will no longer flow by the 1990s if current (1972) consumption continues.
  • Food by the 1980s will plunge to starvation levels and disastrous famines affecting hundreds of millions will be the new norm.
  • The dying off will be upon us by 1985.
  • The climate? Total disaster in the 1990s due to global cooling caused by greenhouse gas and smog blocking sunlight.
  • Every major resource needed for a high-tech world from copper to lithium will be depleted, leaving our world an empty husk...

Several Democratic lawmakers in Washington state proposed a bill that would open up law enforcement and firefighter applicant eligibility to those who cannot read or write English. The proposed legislation, SB 5274, would remove the English language requirement for city police officers, firefighters, fish and wildlife officers, and individuals applying for positions with the sheriff's office.

Was Massive Vote Fraud Confirmed with a Fishtail? - American Thinker - By Joe Fried
  • Sometimes fraud is so far beyond the pale, so egregious, that it is difficult to accept that it happened.
  • But evidence can be too blatant to explain away, especially when two totally different sources of information confirm the existence of the very same fraudulent activity.
Such a convergence of evidence occurred in the 2020 election.

...Here are some words from the email of the tipster, as posted by Waldron at the meeting:

When I [the tipster] asked how in the world will 35,000 votes be kept hidden from being discovered, it was stated that spread distribution will be embedded across the entire registered-voter range and will not exceed the registered-vote count, and the 35,000 was determined allowable in Pima County, based on our county registered-vote count [sic]...

...Here is a challenge: Try to explain why there is a tail on this fish!

Nelson’s comments came after district leaders discussed the process of admitting students and the possibility of lowering academic standards during a school board meeting. After the meeting, Nelson told a local news outlet she was "insulted" by CPS' discussion.

"As an African American parent, I'm insulted because I don't believe standards need to be lowered for African Americans to get into Walnut," Nelson told local news outlet WKRC on Monday. "It was under the auspices of having more African Americans at Walnut Hills."
