LA approves only handful of building permits 75 days after fire devastation | Blaze Media

The city of Los Angeles has approved only four building permits for owners to rebuild their homes following the destructive Palisades fire over two months ago. Los Angeles City Council member Traci Park expressed disappointment with the city's slow progress.

BREAKING: The MI Department of State has rejected my appeal of their denial of my FOIA request for the MI Qualified Voter File (QVF) transaction log.

The data in this transaction log provides key elements of the election audit trail that would help us determine the following as a minimum: - Patrick Colbeck
  • - Who has access to QVF?
  • - Who seeded the QVF with over 800,000 ineligible voters after Jocelyn "we will come for you" Benson took office?
  • - Why do voter histories change on a monthly basis when who voted in a given election should be fixed after certification?
  • - Who is fraudulently assigning low propensity voters to ballots in cities like Detroit?
  • - Who updated voter records to indicate the 125,428 illegal votes during the 2024 election and later purged these voter histories?
Their refusal to provide the QVF transaction log coupled with Benson's routine directives to clerks to destroy poll book records within 7 days of final canvass (in direct violation of federal law), certainly stinks to high heaven...and appears to violate our right to an audit of statewide elections - a right that is to be liberally construed in favor of the voters.

"Green" is their weapon!

University of Michigan curbs DEI initiatives amid Trump threats - mlive.com

...will also shutter its Office for Health Equity and Inclusion and discontinue its DEI 2.0 Strategic Plan, effective immediately.
“We recognize the changes are significant and will be challenging for many of us, especially those whose lives and careers have been enriched by and dedicated to programs that are now pivoting.
Other additional actions mentioned in the message include:
  • All units will have to evaluate their web presence to reflect the status of the current programmatic directions as well as for compliance with federal executive orders and guidance.
  • Ending the use of diversity statements in faculty hiring will be implemented university wide. Statements related to someone’s commitment to DEI will no longer be asked or considered in admissions, hiring, promotion, awards, annual reviews or other assessments for faculty and staff.
  • Individual leads who have supported DEI efforts in schools, colleges and units will refocus their effort to their core responsibilities..

Native American Alaskan group applauds Trump for lifting drilling restrictions, says Biden ignored native communities | Blaze Media

A group representing 21 Native American communities and corporations in Alaska accused the Biden administration of ignoring them after praising the Trump administration for opening up drilling opportunities. The statement was a response to the Trump administration easing drilling restrictions in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska as well as the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The announcement on Thursday was a part of President Donald Trump's plan to make the U.S. dominant in energy production.

  • "We want to reduce spending by eliminating waste and fraud and reduce the spending by 15%, which seems really quite achievable," Musk told "Special Report" executive editor Bret Baier.
  • "The government is not efficient, and there's a lot of waste and fraud. So we feel confident that a 15% reduction can be done without affecting any of the critical government services."

EXCLUSIVE: One Gov’t Agency Still Spending $1,000,000,000 On DEI Despite Trump’s Order To Cut It Out

While other agencies have moved to eliminate the “illegal and immoral programs” targeted in Trump’s day-one executive order, NIH is still funding over $1.3 billion in active grants that include DEI components — from race-based hiring schemes to “anti-racist” training initiatives and diversity-first faculty pipelines. - Thomas English
At least $441 million of those grants explicitly cite DEI in their project descriptions, according to NIH data compiled by watchdog group Do No Harm.
“The NIH spends billions and billions of dollars, and those are taxpayer dollars,” Dr. Kurt Miceli, the group’s medical director, told the Daily Caller News Foundation...
  • Among the still-active grants is a $28 million 2022 award to Mount Sinai — the largest hospital network in New York City — which pledges to embed “an anti-racist mindset” and “justice, equity, diversity [and] inclusion,” or JEDI, into every layer of its medical research infrastructure until it expires in 2028.
  • A $10 million grant to the University of Michigan from 2023 similarly promises to “expand the diversity of voices” in research and train “diverse types” of clinicians across the state until 2027...

COVID FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY: This was the Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s front page:

As James Lileks wrote last year:
The story had no “Two weeks to stop the spread” messaging.
The lockdown was open-ended, although I seem to recall we thought it was supposed to be two weeks, then reviewed. In two weeks the headline would be “New Target — May 4” which was almost a month away.
The rules were adjusted to let landscapers go back to work.

A Supreme Court Remedy for Nationwide Injunctions - WSJ

Congress gave the Supreme Court the authority to curb them by clarifying the Rules of Civil Procedure. -Elizabeth Price Foley
  • Federal trial judges blocking presidential acts via nationwide injunctions are creating a serious conflict between the executive and judicial branches.
  • The flood of such injunctions provoked President Trump to take to social media and call for the impeachment of a judge who issued a temporary restraining order.
Chief Justice John Roberts responded in a statement to reporters that impeachment is inappropriate and the administration should rely on “the normal appellate review process.”
Unsatisfied, Mr. Trump wrote on Thursday: Unlawful Nationwide Injunctions by Radical Left Judges could very well lead to the destruction of our Country! . . . If Justice Roberts and the United States Supreme Court do not fix this toxic and unprecedented situation IMMEDIATELY, our Country is in very serious trouble!”
  • There is something the justices can do to rein in nationwide injunctions: exercise their authority under the Rules Enabling Act of 1934 to amend the federal rule on injunctions...
